The problem with pits and similar breeds is not that they're more likely to flip out and attack people... all breeds have that possibility, they're fuckin dogs ffs. No amount of training or loving family environment will ever remove that possibility. They're dogs, not humans. The problem with those breeds is that when they DO flip out and attack people, they're much more likely to maim and/or kill than less powerful breeds. Statistics bear this out. They are too dangerous to own. Like especially dangerous weapons and substances, people should not own them. Period. However! The dogs currently owned should not simply be murdered. They didn't choose their life, they shouldn't suffer for other people's horribly poor life decisions. Just make it illegal to breed, buy, or sell them. The current generation can live out their lives. Yes, there will still be maulings, but they will diminish over time as they die out naturally.
