It wouldn't surprise me if that was just a tech demo version of Castle Town and was never intended to actually go into OOT, but I also don't see how it might've slotted into MK64, except maybe as a starting point for Block Fort or another battle course.

I say that because they found the data in the MK64 directory and there's an old MK64 interview where they talked about scrapping a castle town track.

I love all the content coming out from people tearing though this, and the possibility of a lot of new ROM content appearing to play with, but I'm very curious if there's any write-up or info on how this leak occured? Did someone not wipe a drive before tossing it?

Did someone not wipe a drive before tossing it? i havent seen a big write up or anything, just pieced together from tweets and poo poo but apparently the big hack in 2016 was done through the iQue of all things, which had some vulnerabilities to find some back door into nintendos chinese distributor and he managed to pull 2tb worth of internal archived data, and before the feds got a hold of him (he was charged for having childporn btw, so gently caress him) he spread to the 2tb to people to spread out over years, and 2020 is now the time when the 2tb is slowly getting released, to, weirdly enough "L is real 2401" and its 24 years and 1 month since the release of sm64 where we discovered luigi really was in sm64. just to gently caress with playground conspiracies and the uncles from nintendo.

As someone who has never been a fan of the pseudo-pre-rendered look of a lot of the SMW sprites, I adore the more flat art style of a lot of these earlier sprites. Has anyone seen any early sprite work from All-Stars poke up yet? I'd be really curious to see if they experimented with different art styles.

I am pumped to see the protos get built and the unused stuff hacked back into some games, and get to see what might have been. Like every time Nintendo Power ran a screenshot that ended up being different from what we got to play, now hoping we can get the chance. Looks like people are already making progress with the Mario 64 stuff.
