Cold enough to use handlebar covers this morn, which lead to the discovery that my bell doesn't work when it's enclosed in them, so I felt like an rear end in a top hat weaving in and out of dog walkers :(

I wrapped my frame in battery LED christmas lights for the season last weekend and every ziptie has a little jingle bell hanging off of it. It sounds like a freight train braking when I hit the gravel part of my commute, but anyone without earbuds hears me coming a mile away without having to use my thumb bell.

Work was closed today for a burst pipe, so I threw the commuter up on the repair stand. Turns out I broke a spoke on Thursday night in -15c, plus the double-wall wheels and bb were still full of floodwater from misjudging a puddle last Tuesday. I ended up just tuning up the beater hardtail to hold me over until I can get some new spokes and fix it.

I wear one of those stuffable running jackets with the armpit/side zips, if it's winter I have a base layer under it and everything shut to keep the wind out, and it's good to about -10C, and then in the summer I just wear it for my ride home at night, fully open but so I have some reflective surfaces.
