Remember that when this all went down that there were major industries (excepting meat packing, but they're a special case) that went WFH/ high level employee protections immediately, once the risks were understood to a decent degree. Sure they're not acting altruistically or out of care for the worker as a group, but if you don't have people your earnings are going to suffer. It wasn't a perfect or even adequate amount of protection, but just enough to ensure that business as usual continued. Make them show up to work even if they're sick.

People forget that a trump victory isn't a failure for the DNC. Getting their guy into the white house would be their best outcome, but they're fine with trump since he supports capital, and so do they. They just do it differently with different focuses. So he can do all the dirty things and then they can reap the benefits while complaining about him the whole time.
