It's a man's game, but boys will play

Of all the teams whose coaches and players have spoken out (however mildly) on social issues in the last 10 years, the Packers might have the overall chuddiest fan base. A lot of folks in Waukesha are going to be very happy to turn on Rodgers once he leaves town

I imagine the whole "I can't walk for more than 20 minutes without serious pain" thing is pretty universal among active offensive linemen, and all but the stupidest guys know they're likely to die at 50 if they don't drop some weight, so I can see how it would be easier for them to get really motivated to do so once they retire. I suspect it's harder for more athletic players who go from feeling like some of the top athletes in the world to bored and very, very sore once they stop playing.

E: I guess I just restated the point of the article, but whatever. I've never paid attention to an OL after retirement before

Are we sure that breaking unions is the way to counter cops? Unions are generally a good thing...

This is a good article on why police unions don't belong in the labor movement because they're opposed to the labor movement's goals:

The tl;dr is that the labor movement advocates for improved material conditions for all workers, and police unions advocate only for more policing.

I'm always happy to share that one. It's one of those super clear pieces of writing I think about all the time, and it's got a good title that's easy to remember when I need it lol

Someone needs to test Urlacher's brain for signs of CTE.

Some teams have done that before, having one guy for kickoffs and long FGs and one guy for regular FGs.

It’s dumb now tho with current kickoff rules

I believe the Vikings used to have Mitch Berger, the punter, attempt really long kicks when Gary Anderson was getting old and didn't have his full leg anymore.

Does anyone remember the video game Quarterback Attack with Mike Ditka? My friend owned a sega saturn and had the game.

I had never heard of this (didn't have Sega consoles and was a little too young for the FMV dad), but reading about the company that made it led me to this movie made using cobbled-together footage from their games:

It looks great
