Just finished attending both nights of NiziU at the Kyocera Dome in Osaka - they streamed the second show. Super fun & cute. Was pretty much all of their songs + some great special stages, a couple inspired by Nizi Project. You're still not allowed to actually cheer in Japan which was a bit of a bummer, as was being in the top tier for both shows (tickets were a flat price & seemingly randomly allocated?), though with how hard it was to get tickets period (Tokyo Dome sold out seconds after going on general sale), at least I was there.

Interesting that Twice announced a new tour date for later this year in Australia today. I never actually thought Australia would be seen as worth touring but they’re coming back after six months, and even smaller tours like Kim Sejeong are coming here now.

Yeah and the Sydney show with NMIXX/Infinite/The Boyz is on sale later today too. What a world.

On holiday in Tokyo and got last-minute tickets to see Le Sserafim last night. Super fun show, Yunjin & Chaewon were so good live. They were really militant on no phones but got this at least.

debut for EVNNE, all former Boys Planet contestants (Park Hanbin, Keita, Lee Jeonghyeon and Yoo Seungeon all made the finale & Keita was arguably the worst snub for ZB1)

love the MV but think I prefer Off the Record to this, not that either is up to the level of... I was gonna pick out my favourite but like pretty much every one of their other main tracks is insanely good. so not up to that level.

Saw Nmixx, The Boyz & Infinite together at Wild Kpop Fest in Sydney. Was pretty fun but what a bizarrely run event.

VVIP ticket holders apparently got a “photo with the group” (the same thing they did during the show, artists on stage and fans in crowd) and “hi wave” (artists waving at fans from stage).

Each group only did 5-6 songs, they also spent 15 minutes of each group’s hour doing a raffle for albums/Polaroids where the same girl won 3 times, people next to each other kept winning and then half the time empty seats won.

Was probably 3-4k people in a 12k or whatever arena, there were major ticketing blunders where they charged really high prices in the presale and then went lower for the main sale, so then had to upgrade presale buyers for free (though I was already floor so I didn’t get an upgrade).

Still a fun night & Lily got to perform in Aus for the first time, she had like 20-30 family and friends there in pink bibs all making themselves known which was super cute… though it sure seemed like Nmixx lip synced which I was disappointed with given how good their vocals are.

NiziU's Korean debut brings us the second tetris-themed kpop banger of the year - interesting how it does feel a bit different to their Japanese releases, even more early Twice-y (and not just because of the language)

a very different sound for ZB1's second single - they dropped teasers with the chorus, I think to draw attention because it's, uhh, well you'll either like it or you won't. it's growing on me

their two best songs are the b-side to the new single (XO Call Me) and the new single (Girls of the Year) but I don't quite understand the big picture plan yet if they're not trying to go on Korean music shows? They only did one appearance for the pre-debut single. They're going to be based in LA, which makes sense for seeing their families, visa reasons, etc but it kinda just makes them an American group that's doing English songs produced in Korea (except when JYP uses non-Korean songwriters/producers)? which is less interesting to me

Love them, love the visuals, but don't love the song and specifically the auto-tune. Knew it'd be a more chill song because of the teasers but just a bit flat.

the key with Le Sserafim's performances IMO is the vibes. the vibes are unmatched which means any vocal flaws from kkura, eunchae or zuha are totally fine

but also they should probably give them fewer songs in the low register of Easy

Bottom Liner posted:

That's a mixed ask since most of them have naturally lower registers but singing low requires more breath and keeping things more open, which is harder when doing a bunch of choreo. Same reason tuba players have to breath a lot more than trumpet players in marching bands. I think Eunchae sounded second best behind Chaewon who always kills it. I hope they keep using the lower register because it works with their music and is rare in kpop.

you are smarter (baby smarter) about this than me!

Ok so I gave my credit card details when entering the raffle.
If I win I'm supposed to pickup my tickets at any Japan 7-11

2 shows at the Tokyo dome is 110,000 ppl, so I guess my chances are ok?

good luck! should you be successful you should get a code or something like that which you put into the Pia machine at the 7-11 (I used the Google Translate photo mode on my phone to read the screen) & then you'll get a receipt which you take up to the attendant. Paying now is a plus, sometimes they make you go into the 7-11 to pay by a certain date (which is obviously a bit hard to organise when you're overseas).

fwiw, if you end up needing it, I was able to buy second-hand tickets while in Japan using Ticket.co.jp. It's a bit more complicated than you'd like & in this case because it's a fan club event it may be harder to do that because the name would be printed on the ticket (and theoretically they can check the name at the door, though they've never done that at the 4 shows I've been to in Japan).
