i'd also like to bring to the discussion the prevalence of guns and gun violence in Twice music videos. mina shoots me with an old time pistol in "TT". sana has a finger gun in "Heart Shaker". likewise, momo does a finger gun in "Dance The Night Away" while dancing. in "Fancy" one of the main dance moves is a steady two-handed pistol gesture. in "Cheer Up", momo, jihyo, and jeongyeon are all equipped with pistols and are going to shoot someone. chaeyoung is also sporting a revolver in that video. In "Like OOH-AHH", chaeyoung arguably places a finger gun to her temple then turns it on the viewer while in the restroom. there are quite a lot of guns in "BDZ" with one being directly aimed at mina for multiple shots, though i don't believe any of the members use one. that video also features a wooden chair that looks exactly the same as a set that I own which was purchased by my parents in the 1980s. you can see that chair at 3:54 in said music video.

The discussion I'd like to see is someone else saying that they noticed the guns a time or two, or maybe no acknowledgement at all, and then I'd like for everyone to listen to the classic tune "Abracadabra" or something else very good. Not the Steve Miller one

i don't mind the guns. I'm just glad that everyone knows. We're all in this together listening to kpop.

yeah bovis. related, "Psycho" was such a good single to me. It feels like it should have 500 million or more YouTube views, which is the ultimate and only measure of success.

the only ones i don't like are the Japanese ones and that seems to be a common thing among groups.

I meant red velvet singles here.

Zimzalabim gets a lot of love for being underrated but I go for Umpah Umpah with the stupid nonsensical noise choruses. very feel-good

this is the first itzy song that i am listening to on repeat. it's a good one for playing sports video games :)

It would fit in well on NBA Street Vol. 2 on the PlayStation 2 video game console.

the aespa single is growing on me. it feels similar to inexplicably loving "not shy" so i guess i like generic crunchiness and choruses breaking in hard

rosé is the best but that repeating of a weak line every day/every night feels like a tiny bit of a good sandwich falling onto your pants

Honestly even if you aren't super into their music, the show is just comedy gold constantly. I think there was only 1 or 2 episodes I didn't like really, but that was more the subject matter than anything else.

Also feel the need to expose people to Keembo. If you've been around a bit you probably remember Spica, two of their members (BoA and Bohyung) went on to make a duo after the group's contracts expired and all that. They've released a pretty broad section of types of songs so far, but they're definitely a couple of the strongest kpop singers. Scandalous is one of my favorite tracks from 2020.

i do not know anything about male groups. was BTOB ever considered really popular or no? and are they in a stagnant/dead group walking situation? i just want to learn all about everything in this world.

i never thought about how smoothly jihyo would transition to full-time solo work. should've thought about it when she was talking with bambam (or someone) about how long they could realistically go doing Twice songs

Cavauro
Jan 9, 2008

it was more about singing "cheer up" at age 30 and stuff like that i think. like artistically. which is not weird or uncommon but hey if that's something on her mind then fair enough

Cavauro
Jan 9, 2008

okay. i know twice is like 6+ more years. was just pointing out a time where it made sense to think about how much she brings on her own. not starting a rumor

that insane twitter person reminds me of all the youtube shorts with a bot reading off really messed up stuff that netizens were supposedly saying somewhere about any particular kpop idol. i wonder if the ridiculously over the top and misguided "protection" that some zealous fans push has come out of a messed up ebb and flow where both sides are toxic

actually i guess it's all the same people being tribal in a horrible way. anyway, amazing pre-release
