An interesting theory put forth is that Mario and Luigi (both last name Mario) are "Marioids" and Peach (maybe Daisy) are "Peachettes". Bowser is a Koopa because his name is Bowser Koopa. Donkey Kong is also therefore a "Kong".

Fact: Toadette (a Toad or is Toadette a species?) can turn into a Peachette with the Super Crown power-up. Can species be changed or is Toadette a juvenile version of a Peachette? (Luigi can not use the Super Crown)
