evil isn't a loving political or economic category, it's a moral category. asking which country/empire/ethnic group/corporation/capital formation/ideology/culture is most 'evil' is like asking which chemical reaction is most romantic, or which solar body is most likely to succeed after high school

the necessities and contingencies of power have always been inhuman and amoral. using moral categories to understand history distorts, obfuscates, and mystifies.

This is why it's wrong to say that Hitler was evil. He was just, uh, doing the contingencies, of power. Ever seen Game of Thrones?

Idk seems pretty silly to define the most militarily powerful nation in human history as unremarkable. That's a term I'd reserve for podunk nations like Canada

Nah you talk to a goon 500's years from now and they'll think of America in the same way we think of alexander's empire or the mongols. Joining the club of empires that very quickly rose and fell but defined the era they lived in by the mere fact of there rise.
You don't even have to be an American exceptionalist to understand this. Quite the contrary. America didn't earn it's place in history but it got very very lucky and landed in a situation where it had half of the world's industrial output for a short period of time.

It will be impossible to talk about the 20th century or developments that followed without talking about america's role in it, for better or worse.

Unless of course you're referring to the possibility that humanity won't exist in 100 years due to climate change. In which case America becomes even more remarkable for it's role in ending human civilization. But we'll leave that one for the roachmen to pontificate on.

more people died in the Tokyo firebombings then Hiroshima and Nagasaki combined.

again, you’re using American propaganda but flipping it on its head, nuclear weapons are not worse than conventional weapons, except that Americans fetishize one because they think it makes them special.

I'd say rendering the area affected by its blast uninhabitable for potentially decades and survivors being both rendered toxic by virtue of their exposure to radiation and subjected to one of the most horrific deaths imaginable makes nuclear weapons a lot worse than their equivalent force in dynamite imo
