How stringent is Australia regarding non pressurized fluid containers being OEM regarding annual (?) inspections? Would it be worth it to just keep a few universal ones (either plastic or metal) on hand?

I've never seen those puke tanks break here unless it was frozen water expanding, but it seems really common in Australia and Japan. Usually I replace mine when they get sludged up with head gasket "conditioner" and/or oil-coolant sludge.

Subarus aren't that niche, so there are a bunch of RockAuto knockoff parts that are super cheap, that's what's in the Saab right now (I think? Maybe I did that to the 03)

That'll teach me to phone-post. There are RockAuto washer bottles available too, at least, although I remember not seeing any for the 06-07 Impreza wagons.

I did a non-turbo EJ203 swap into an EJ253-equipped Saabaru. You definitely notice the loss of acceleration and have to downshift for hills that you used to cruise up before.

However, it's a remarkably smoother-feeling engine than the 2.5. It reminds me a lot of my old phase 1 EJ22.

If you do a turbo EJ205, put an EJ255/257 oil pan on it, better baffling in corners. "Frenetic" is not usually an adjective I would pair with the Forester steering, but you do you.
