I love the hell out of T2, but I'm more a fan of the original overall despite T2 clearly being so much better technologically. It perfectly parallels how I feel about Alien versus Aliens, actually: the latter is an amazing sci-fi action movie, but the former is a perfect sci-fi slasher film. Not to say that T2 or, God forbid, Aliens lacks tension or moments of horror, but it's definitely a different overall feel. I have to admit, reading through this thread has provided some insight into the movie that went completely over my head decades ago when I last watched it -- the discussion regarding why the T-1000 took the form of an LAPD officer has just blown my mind, since of course suburban white kid me simply thought that a police officer was perfect because that's who people would trust! I'm going to have to do a rewatch.
