Websters defines nostalgia as "a sentimental longing or wistful affection for the past, typically for a period or place with happy personal associations." I thought this would be a cool idea for a thread. Post content you enjoyed or just remember from your earlier years. Theme songs, toys, movies, anything that makes you feel things. Experience Pure Moods https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZJSjrox_2s The David the Gnome theme song (Those opening credits though, oof.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bsdZQub7QVE Those water ring games your grandma or dentist's waiting room had. This short they played between cartoons. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vn1pf0Xi3nU Bristle Blocks. The bane of my OCD existence. Speaking of, trying to get these to work with my normal legos. graham cracker has a new favorite as of 02:20 on Sep 24, 2020 |

As a kid I used to love these: gumball machines that make the gumball go down a slide or whatever. They were even better when instead of a little spiral slide they made the gumball go through like a Rube Goldberg setup, but those were pretty rare.

Flipstick, guaranteed to freak out your mom, no surprise why I had to beg gramma for one. It was like a police baton with hard rubber balls on both ends that you could throw around the house. You could get some amazing combination bounces if it didn’t strike along the shaft and if it didn’t hit something soft like a cushion or ya know, a lamp or framed picture or other things parents don’t want smashed. Only pic I could find is the junior

graham cracker posted:The David the Gnome theme song (Those opening credits though, oof.) Did you know this cartoon was based off a couple of books, which presented themselves as sort of general interest "documentary" books on the life of gnomes? The author has supposedly studied the life and ways of gnomes and interviewed them too and the books paint a rather complete fictional universe. The books are full of lovely drawings too, in the same style as the cartoons but with a lot of attention to detail.
