Has Barca found a way yet to get around the financial fairplay rules?
Because I am sure as hell there will be some exception or something for them.

Osasuna is another top tier pick, great team if you enjoy rough football, just don't expect quality plays from them.

This is great.

Also, the announcement says they got a BBB- rating which I don’t think is even that good?

La Liga sold 10% of it's tv and sponsorship revenue to an investment fund for 2.7 billion. Payouts are based on the previous tv revenue sharing deal so Barca and Madrid would both get 250 mil plus with smaller teams getting less. Madrid doesn't want it to go through, and Barca seems on the fence because they so badly need money.

https://www.espn.co.uk/football/real-madrid/story/4446366/real-madrid-consider-legal-action-against-laligacvc-after-27bn-deal-sources

The Athletic article goes into the details and some of them seem quite unique.

quote:

How will this affect La Liga clubs?
90 per cent of the €2.7 billion which CVC is providing will go to clubs, including more than €100 million for women’s football and semi-pro leagues which are governed by the Spanish football federation.

It could be provided in the form of low interest loans, rather than grants, with the improvements generated allowing the clubs to repay to the fund over the long term.

Clubs who want to access the funding will have to submit development plans to La Liga — and the money is to be spent for off-pitch projects, not transfers or player wages.

The list of potential uses given by La Liga includes sports strategies, infrastructure, international development, brand development, communication strategies, technology and digital content production.

For example this suggests that Real Madrid and Barcelona might be able to access funds to help with their stadium redevelopments, or develop new content to sell to fans around the world, but not to buy Kylian Mbappe or pay Lionel Messi’s wages.
