the anime portraits and music are a nice touch I'm not enough of a war history nerd to play this but I really appreciate the detail that goes into the speculative possible history aspects of all of this.

TheMcD posted:New video! I assume that you just need to continue to capture territory until the other group capitulates. Do you intend to focus your efforts on Spain for now? And how long will it likely take before the enemy is defeated?

So what's the plan at this point? Do you need to take care of the other three factions now? And in a military fashion (as opposed to diplomatically)?

https://store.steampowered.com/app/394360/Hearts_of_Iron_IV/ The Steam Winter Sale has Hearts of Iron IV at $10, which is a whopping 75% discount. I look forward to mobilizing my anime tank platoons to threaten Romainia sometime soon.

I see you guys monitoring the States but I get the feeling that no country (beyond the americans) is willing to dip a toe in that morass. In addition, the factions of the former US seem to be rightly keeping their attention on just themselves. Is my view correct? Has Canada made any overt military actions regarding world affairs? I don't mean treaties, but the muscle behind the treaties - sending troops or other kinds of force. Lastly, does HoI3 allow for nuclear weapon strikes? And what are the after effects on geography (read: land productivity and habitability) in regards to nuke use and effects on international relations?

I can't really fault the developer for being a bit cautious with it. It's certainly a touchy subject, and I think this sounds like an implementation that is good enough. Anyways, thank you everyone for the incredibly in-depth explanations.

f for Aloe also, the hololive CN group had such great designs, particularly Rosalyn. Too bad all that stuff happened that canned the whole group. Are there any CN vtubers on twitch or youtube? Probably taiwan streamers, I guess...

Wait. Watching robot wars? You mean some sort of super robot wars anime? or one of Tomino's many epic series? Also, are the pink nations all socialist allies, including the States, Canada and Britain? And with Britain in the way there, how does that affect your logistics? It feels that you wouldn't be able to capture territories unless your troops were at the front.

TheMcD posted:I don't get a lot of opportunity to use nukes in my HoI4 games. Usually the campaign is either over by then, I'm playing a minor that doesn't really get nukes, the mod runs too slow at that point or whatnot. So when I do get the opportunity, I'm more than glad to use them. There are so few repercussions that it just feels like a peace bringing superweapon. Removes military with each application. Apply repeatedly until resistance is eliminated. Someone with a lot of time on their hands could spend a long time writing fan fiction about your campaign.

It seems that it took a long time to get anything more than a foothold after invading Nova Griffonia (until a couple dozen nukes were dropped). Did all those troops belong to the invaded country? Or did they receive support from other countries? By comparison, it seems that Pingland and Stalliongrad were relative pushovers. Do you expect the rest of the neighboring states to fall just as quickly?

TheMcD posted:Well, Pingland is a total pushover regardless because they have, like, no industry, so they're not comparable to Nova Griffonia and Stalliongrad. But between those two, the core difference is that with Stalliongrad, we were no longer working from a naval landing. Because our first attempt to land at Weter got hosed, we had to land up north, which is garbage terrain, and so our infrastructure was for poo poo. That means we couldn't actually get in the big boys, we were basically stuck using our paratroopers to hold the line, whereas the AI nation (supported by basically every other country in the world [which, mind, at this point is basically just Equestria and friends]) could clog the line up with a lot more. So breaking through wasn't an option, really, without softening the units up (which is what the nukes accomplished). Thank you for clearing all of that up. At this point in the game, are you still fighting against time, due to the student protests?

TheMcD posted:Well, basically, the issue comes from the fact that I have no idea how that part of the tree works due to never having played it before. So I'm not sure if there's some timer under the hood that's gonna blow the country up if we don't progress along the focus tree, and so we're on the clock as far as demobilization is concerned. We could technically just sit on this, keep the student protest debuff (which isn't *that* bad, all things considered) and just wait until the war's over before doing the focuses that demilitarize, I just don't know if that's going to gently caress us harder than if we just did the focuses. I genuinely don't remember what we did in the end (again, it's literally three months since I uploaded these episodes, which means it's been even longer since I edited them and even longer since we recorded them). You'll have to see what happens in the next episode, I suppose! looking forward to more nukes

Because all the political leaders are clear pastiches or parodies of real existing (though not exactly living, RIP McAfee) people, I can see why it would only make sense to use portraits of those people in this game. But I kinda miss the anime portraits (pony or otherwise) that really put a touch of lightheartedness on the previous runs. At any rate, this is a great LP and I just wanted to say that I'm still watching and enjoying the plot of these crazy mods.
