Another week later same thing, but now the glue is completely dried but just on the floor and not to the carpet so it pulls right up like it's just laying on the floor. I call again, but this time i say don't send the moron that installed it to my house, send somebody else, this should be obvious. So another guy comes out and confirms right away that the moron installer should have used a notched trowel to spread out the glue so the carpet would adhere properly. He was amazed when i told him the guy used a paint roller. I also told him about the "new glue" that can be rolled on, and he laughed and said there was no such thing and even if there was such a thing he obviously didn't use it. So i call them back and tell them they need to pull all the carpet up a re glue it correctly, and they go on about how they have to contact Home Depot first and that they would get back to me. A week goes by no call, so i got in touch with HD management to get a refund on the install charge and i'm still waiting on that. Funny thing is, and the other guy was saying it too, it was the simplest install job ever. No furniture to move, perfect rectangle slab, the guy maybe saved 15 minutes by using a loving roller instead of just doing it the right way with a trowel. Also why would the flooring company make up some bullshit lie about the glue to cover for an idiot sub contractor? It makes no sense, but at the same time it does. Day started off ok...  Got a lot mowed, but I didn’t quit while I was ahead.  Hmmm...     Going to give that a week to dry out and order a kinetic rope in the mean time. Any sizing recommendations on that? I would guess the tractor and bat wing weigh 20,000 lbs.

I might ask a neighbor if I can’t get it with my 37hp Mahindra or the UTV. Its a really steep slope, theres some backward rollover risk with a tractor so I am hesitant to put someone else at risk. I knew it was hosed so I stopped before it really dug in. Its not supposed to rain this week so maybe by next weekend I can get it out using the loader. Not even gonna try to get my truck out there.

When tugging out a tractor with another tractor it is best to have them facing one another and to use the tractor doing the tugging in low reverse gears. It's also the safer way to do it, just like going up a steep grade, use reverse! Also good with this method is if you have a loader on the rescue tractor because you can use it to take weight off the front end of the stuck one while loading down the rescue.

Its still a really stupid spot, the confluence of two waterways near the bottom of the slope. The slope itself is complex and steep. The immediate neighbors mostly have old 2wd stuff thats not so great in this situation, so last resort there, i suppose I could go a little farther and ask some of the big grain/turkey guys but I would rather not. I stopped before it got too buried, its mostly the batwing holding it back. I think I can get it out, just not today.

While these tractors do share the same wheelbase, the 430 frame is a good bit longer. This means the subframes I got don’t fit. There’s no way to fit it on the front end. The bolt holes don’t line up and if I only use one hole nothing fits on the underside. If I bolt up to the rear axle and set up the underside like it’s supposed to, the front end is way out in space.  So I made this.  It’s a start. Gotta duplicate it for the other side and pick up some more bolts. That’ll finish out the test fitting. Then I get to remake it out of metal, might have to farm that out. I got a band saw I think can cut the shape, not sure I can drill it with only a handheld though. rdb posted:

I bent the jacking point on a hidden stump, and broke the shear pin on my hi lift trying to get it on this time. Its a JD CX15 and weighs in over 7k. Where its sitting now it would roll back into the ditch and go near vertical. I bent the loader bucket trying to pick up the tongue after the jack broke so I would just wind up loving things up more I think, trying to unpin it and get it out later. I think a couple days to dry out and a good yank with a kinetic rope from either the small tractor or my utv and it will come out. Its not buried too bad yet, messing around will just make it worse. I forgot to mention: we had 6” of rain this week. It ended Thursday, today being Saturday. Things are just abnormally soft. Best advice I got on back pain, I’ve got problems down my left side from getting hit by a car while changing a tire 25 years ago, is to strengthen, stretch, stretch, and stretch. I use a foam roller a lot as well. I also used to get therapeutic massage, but that’s stopped since covid. I’m dealing with spasms in my neck right now. C1 and C2 are pissed off with my newfound level of activity today. I’ve spent nearly 20 days in bed and on opiates due to the tonsillectomy and subsequent complications, and now that I’ve stopped moving for the day, a lot of me is complaining. I think it’s all the time lying on the ground dicking with the tractor that got the neck spasms going though. Other than that, I dunno. It hurts less when I move more, and hurts more when I move less. So I just gotta stay moving, or drunk.

That’s the most infuriating thing, like watching a car crash in slow motion. Except the show starts when the driver orders his first drink at the bar. Even if everything ends well, it’s a pain in the rear end to complain, explain, coordinate, be home when the guys (maybe) shows up, etc etc. The guys who built our house put up an exterior railing in front of floor-to-ceiling doors/windows on the upper floor. They drilled a 14 mm hole less than 15 mm from the edge of a brick, then proceeded to mount a heavy steel railing to it. I, a loving software engineer, told them “that’s going to crack” and lo and behold, it cracked. Multiple times.

Yeah it takes an artist to restore terrazzo, but when it's done right it looks amazing. Mine is so far gone it would cost a small fortune to restore it so I'm doing water proof vinyl, but all the old cheap poo poo tile needs to come off of it first. Yeah I was in PT for a few months after my accident and the therapist taught me a lot of useful stretches that I use almost everyday. I also workout as much as i can to keep my strength up, especially my core. Of course it's limited, I can't lift heavy weights like i used to, can't do deadlifts and poo poo like that, I have a pull up bar, some dumbells and a bench and some elastic bands. It helps for sure but the pain is still there and some days are worse than others. I'm kind of like Chili where he said moving helps more. Sitting or standing too long in one place makes it worse. Getting drunk helps too
