Going to suggest

Dark City - 1998

Cast:

Roger Ebert loved the hell out of the movie so much he did the commentary for the home release

quote:

Dark City by Alex Proyas is a great visionary achievement, a film so original and exciting, it stirred my imagination like Metropolis and 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Trailer: This is peak 90's trailer. You will see a bunch of scenes. You will also see some weird stuff and images. Is the plot spoiled? From what??

Tonight, Robot Carnival (1987)

An anthology of nine animated shorts from nine different directors and teams from Japan, whose only common theme is "robots". Each of them with a distinctive animation style and story, ranging from comedy and drama. This is one of Leraika's recommendations for our current Sci-Fi theme and should be a good time.

The original trailer from 1987 of this loving amazing show

Edit: my opinion is this collection is topped by Neo-Tokyo (45 min runtime) released the same year because the Running Man short is peak

You just need to watch this AMV to see what a man losing his mind looks like on a metaphysical plane.

Lorn - Sega Sunset

The three artists involved and what they were known for:
