We demand to be taken seriously

I’m enjoying the season, that was an good episode. It was interesting how Deafy seems to be competent with small scale stuff but is way over his head on bigger plans, and doesn’t understand people as well as he thinks he does. Like not putting together until it was too late that Zelmare and Swanee may seem goofy but on their own robbed a guarded location and wiped out an Italian house and are a huge threat. Not to mention bringing along Odis when he knows he’s in with the mob.

My take on Josto and Gaetano is that neither should be running the family, as Josto lacks the ability to plan, isn’t imposing, and frequently distracted, while Gaetano is hyper aggressive and fearless but only wants to attack constantly. Neither is a good replacement for their father, but they are so bound by tradition they can’t get a better leader, as Rabbi is out for obvious reasons.

This season has been improving, definitely a few too many characters but seems to be coming together. I like the running gag of how Josto has no control of little things. Like he still hates his big chair but won’t make the effort to get it replaced, or how the alderman was able to walk into his office during an important meeting, contrasted with Cannon having attentive guards.

That was alright. Wish they’d let Cannon live.. Best ep by far was Satchel & Rabbi on the road. Two of the best characters in a wacky motel with a cool ending. Needed way more of that.

Updated season rankings: 2, 1, 4, 3.

Major step down from S2 with the Gerhardt family vs. St. Louis featuring Mike & the Kitchen Bros. That had so much fun characterization and history, while here it is just “the mafia” and they’re gonna take the stockyards if you don’t watch out. That guy at the end running things felt like a cookie cutter syndicate, GTA pedestrians had more depth.

Also agree that Season 1 is just so solid and nothing wasted. My Season rankings from best to worst are always 2, 1, 3, 4 with nothing against seasons 1 through 3 as all three are great.

I liked season 1 a lot but didn't like how they had Bob Odenkirk play the sheriff. Odenkirk is one of our best actors and hits it out of the park as Saul but sticking him in a role where for most of the season all he does is stop Molly from doing her job was frustrating as they didn't give him much to work with. He got a little better in the end and still a powerhouse season, but still annoying to recall that oh yeah Odenkirk was on Fargo but had nothing to do.

Great season, Juno Temple was amazing & I liked the ending.

Minor quibble, felt like too many scenes didn’t trust the audience to figure out a character or idea. Like the golfing husband, the abusive son of the old lady, & the unlucky guy in the hospital. Instead of hinting at their unlikeable nature, they seemed to spend every second of screen time yelling about why they deserved a bad fate. Especially the hospital guy, could have been more interesting if Dorothy picked a random guy & had to live with it, but nope he’s the biggest jerk in the ward.

And Lorraine’s monologue to Roy at the end went way too long, all that was needed was to tell him many prisoners have debts she has chosen to help & let him figure it out silently, but nope gonna list the specific cell blocks, point out the guys, & mention exactly what she wants to have happen, it’s like cmon we get it. Also pretty sure can’t hand sealed packs of cigarettes to prisoners.

Also the FBI standoff felt a bit confused, both sides are gonna stand ten yards from each other & FBI doesn’t react to rifles being aimed at their faces? Felt too cramped, especially when the large FBI group says they are going covert but walk into the ranch in obvious eyesight of the militia but go unnoticed in broad daylight. Wonder if the scene was supposed to be foggier but they couldn’t manage the effect that long.

Eh minor quibbles, excellent tv especially Ole Munch.
