Check the area of the gasket failure for flame polishing and erosion, you may need that shaved down.

E: I'm impressed a 22re made enough power to do that much damage.

I forget where you're located but if you're gonna be in central Mass any time soon with it I can crimp on better lugs, bring it by anytime. If you won't be, the crimper I recommend (best choice products 15 or 16 ton) is like 60 bucks on Amazon and pays for itself fast. I've made new battery cable sets for 4 or 5 people with mine at this point, plus everything I drive.

I have both. The HF stays at home or in the truck depending on whether I'm going to make cables for someone somewhere else, the BCP one stays at the hangar. I'm not really sure which I would say I prefer, the HF one maxes out at 4awg, the other doesn't.

Since that's a desirable ratio I'd look at selling it and buying one that bolts in with factory installed gears in it already, the ones you want are factory available ratios right? I bet you could actually make money on that swap.

If those are factory CV shafts you might want to look at getting new boot kits and regreasing and rebooting them instead of scrapping, since they are known for lasting longer than aftermarkets.

I am weird and actually like doing helicoils. At least in aluminum. Can't believe someone actually stripped those bolts out, what kind of a gorilla worked on this thing before you?

Every time I learn more about Elements I find myself wishing I'd bought a $500 Element instead of a $300 Forester in 2014.

I'd still be driving the first one instead of eventually owning 4 Subarus in 7 years.

Far more reliable and more cargo-shaped, too.

And yeah, I'll take a K24 over an EJ25 any day of the week.

That's uhhh certainly a thing.

I probably would have bodged the low beam wiring to run the second solenoid, TBH, it's right there and it's not like you give a poo poo about low beams on a cabin plow truck.
