did anybody vote for trump in 2016 because they thought it'd be funny and that he was going to lose anyway? i live in california so obviously it wouldn't make a difference anyway but i did know a software engineer dipshit who basically viewed all of politics as beneath him and voted for trump essentially as a troll. basically the south park worldview. wonder what he thinks about that now is anybody planning on ironically voting TRUMP this year? do you know anybody who's going to do so?

I almost bought his crazy wildcard schtick for a split second and thought we might actually get some nice things out of a Trump presidency while we enjoy watching beltway dorks sputter about decorum and lose their poo poo that the American people really aren’t that into neoliberalism. Then I remembered Trump’s always been a professional bullshitter and you really can’t trust anything he says and saved myself from later disappointment. I’m in California so I think I wrote in Bernie or some other non-candidate as a gently caress you vote.

a guy I knew ironically voted Trump after campaigning for Bernie in 2016, regretted it, campaigned for Bernie in 2020. in the spring he left the socialist party he’d been a member of for years in order to phone bank for Joe Biden, complain about “rose twitter,” and call anyone to his left an ultra-left sufferer of an infantile disorder.

Dems are right that leftists can be safely ignored and it doesn't matter or 2. leftists turn out to be an essential part of the Democratic coalition and thus can leverage demands

I voted for Hillary but I hated every second of it I will not vote for Joe because of his policies but I'd never vote for Trump. Irony-poisoned internet discourse is a disease, and bringing it into the real world even in something as ultimately meaningless as a presidential vote would be a mistake.
