annapurna had like three different games where the lead was a shithead/creep, and in all three cases they sided with the lead but i wouldn't say that it's THAT frequent in indie games either because many indie games are just by like, 5 people or fewer, or just 1 dude working out of their garage. it mainly seems to happen with actual indie studios, because, yeah. if a team is large enough to have dozens of employees and a physical location, then abuse is more likely to happen. the CEO of Moon Studios (Ori & the Blind Forest) for example has allegations of abuse against them (and also frequented ResetEra up until a thread about his behavior was made) that's why there's no value in attaching 'morality' to the concept of indie games any more than ascribing morality to youtubers as a contrast to TV/Film. that's not why they're better than AAA games they're better for many other reasons but not praxis The 7th Guest fucked around with this message at 21:09 on Mar 28, 2024 |

I had this stream on in the background and sometimes I forget how good Pat is at breaking down an argument at times. Like he's a neurotic little guy but he sure has come a long way from how he used to be. He was streaming FF7R and for some reason an AI bro came into the chat and donated to start an argument, and then Pat spent 20 minutes dismantling the entire notion of an "AI creative". having used the creating tools in dreams for the first time last night, it makes me more wildly impressed with the actual creators on there. creating things with the dualsense is a loving nightmare because of all the motion sensing being not 100% accurate, my imp kept eventually sliding away and had to keep having its position reset. then the camera movement is really awkward, like you have to hold L1 to move up and down, and R1 to spin/zoom on a point. making things worse is my dualsense has some sort of trigger drift where it would just activate R2 repeatedly and i'd have to slam it to get it to stop, then undo all the havoc that caused. my controller obviously is kinda busted but also i loving hate the dualsense controller lol the trigger haptics were neat but it's the worst Big 3 controller since the N64

Linkara has been the continual target of Kiwifarms-type freaks for over a decade so I think it's reasonable for him to block people who log on just to insult him. It's interesting how this thread culture can talk about different public figures. There's a sort of "dignity uncanny valley" where if you're not respectable enough but also not cringe to the point of, like, near-criminality, it's like all the gloves are off.
