I miss “WTF, D&D”. It was my first intro to a lot of rpg’s, and the 90’s Call of Cthulhu campaign was hilarious.

I have never in my 20 years here found a single article on the front page funny. I don't know why but even with good posters turned article writers their articles seemed like try-hard edgy nonsense that wasn't funny beyond the age of 15. For me at least. Maybe it was because of the writing style that was self-selected due to Lowtax's 'humour' deciding was was published. As far as I'm concerned, the front page should be a showcase for only the best stuff that comes out of the forums and maybe the odd writer that makes actual good poo poo. I'd be really interested to know what kind of traffic is driven to the front page, anyone ever see any stats?

What's Zack Parsons up to these days? Unless something happened recently, he hasn't updated his website since the Solo review. He was, and I imagine still is, hilarious. The Front Page brought me to this site and honestly I read it for years (I think I found the forums in 03 or 04) before getting my account here. I never lurked the forums until I got an account, the account was a gift. But yeah, I miss the front page. Hell, I'll even give the hot take that while it's been some time since he was, and it by no means excuses him being an abusive piece of poo poo - Lowtax absolutely was funny at one time and there are some articles of his that still crack me up, even if now they do so with a gross feeling after. I'd love to see the front page revitalized with some new funny writers. I know these forums have them, so here's hoping Jeff feels like putting them to work on that poo poo. EDIT: And speaking of monsters who were nonetheless, sadly, talented: Flash Tub was also something that brought me here. And the bad movie reviews. Also I loved the brief time we had the movie reviews that eventually became that Front Row Center site. Basically I think that even with the smaller userbase, there's enough creative people on this site still to make the front page something awesome and fun again. wtf d&d is great but it has this problem where in the long run, you're going to have to resort to reviewing really niche pnp games that have all the same weird hangups as mainstream ones, the only difference being that they're illustrated by obscure furry porn artists

Y'know, serious post, what if we could post stuff like the things being made in the programming and games forums where people are making their own stuff. In the games thread there are some really talented people making games and it'd be neat to allow SA to showcase a few of those things with a more goon-centric focus. I know the internet gives a pretty broad audience to share those things with but if any of those things make it big-ish, it could help the site too. I have no idea what form it would take but I think showcasing goon stuff (by request) would be really cool.

Anyone with fond memories of the front page should actually go back and read it. I remember recently a friend was joking about how racist the Redwall books are and I remembered a front page article about that topic that made me laugh so I googled it and sent the link sight-unseen and then I wound up being embarrassed because it turns out that not only was it not funny but it was like five times longer than it needed to be, full of slurs, and ended with some wacky random violence. Same with Fashion SWAT, comedy must have been so much easier when you could just call people gay and trans slurs and call it a day. Even the Photoshop articles are mostly just monkey cheese wacky randomness, incomprehensible in-jokes, and the photoshop equivalent of PewDiePie yelling "RAPE" over and over.

Not many phridays were as good as the threads themselves, no. But it owns seeing shops on the front page regardless.

I was thinking about Weekend Web not too long ago and how it would be a funny thing to bring back. But then I realized it's obsolete because that poo poo isn't buried in the dark corners anymore, it's just the whole internet. If I recall correctly there was a weekend web with some incel forum poo poo years before that was widely known.
