My daughter is dating into an Ohio family. They brought with them the knowledge of Buckeyes. I told her her dowry would be a basket of Buckeyes and a 6 pack of Vernors.

They have a nut there called the buckeye and the Ohio state football team is called the buckeyes. Those peanut butter candies I posted are called buckeyes and they make them at the holidays in Ohio. vernors is a spicy ginger ale that was only regionally available around the Midwest where Ohio is. It’s now available everywhere but back in the day it was hard to come by The implied joke (which since I’m explaining it means it failed completely) was that those items were so valuable they would serve as a dowry.
