I've no idea why I have the urge to play this again. I started in 2001, quit in 2007 and have just logged into RS3 and I have no idea what's going on. Why is everybody so colourful? Why do I have a hot bar? It's so overwhelming that I have no idea what to do - I have a level 95 with 1,300 total. Absolutely no money. (I sold my rares in late 2018 for actual real life moolah, looking at prices, I should've waited) Can anybody recommend a course of action, should I start a certain quest line, should I skill for some cash?

Where in discord can I send the messageo to i.e. "!join-role rs3" or osrs? I see upon joining the server that that's the command to send when joining the communities, just not sure where to send it to? (can't seem to access any channels to do that?)

It'll feel a hell of a lot more like it did back when you played. You'll have to start over, but 95 cmb and 1300 total level is pretty easy to get back up to.

I did have a little stint on OSRS a few years back, and enjoyed it for the most part. Having never played the modern game I'm intrigued by it for whatever reason, a more casual experience probably suits me nowadays.

Taking a look in to this, did a really short stint a few years ago and wanted to try again. Runescape 3, I started a character yesterday and started Minning and Smithing. Is this a viable profession to make some gold in? I know I would benefit from Magery but wanted to get an income in first. I've made roughly 210k so far, 160k after buying some pickaxes. I'm not sure if that's good income? Armor doesn't seem to sell well, mostly just raw mats that are left over from my smithing grind. I'm currently 43 mining and 40 smithing. I have done no quests. About to start the gold ore grind, anything I should be on the look out for or is it pretty much Plate chests the whole way down? In as Taylonhart, applied to discord as Kortel. They give XP, unlock content, and give unique items. If you have a quest available to you, you probably have the ability to complete it, and it'll be worth doing. Second, basically everything you can do skill-wise is either (a) high xp or (b) high income, and almost never both. For smithing, your best xp is by making full armor sets, upgrading them all the way, and then turning them into burial armor (which is literally throwing them in the trash for bonus xp). Mining runite (level 50 mining) is moderate xp and ~550k gp/hr if you invest in stone spirits, as f2p, and scales up with more unlocks, more gear, and membership. Mining lumite can also be profitable. Compared to a high-click, low-skill method of earning gp like summoning spiders for eggs (level 10 summoning required), which earns 2 million gp/hr, it's not a ton of cash, but mining is low-intensity and gives decent xp. You can take it a step further by smelting the bars, but that really doesn't get good until you've done the Family Crest quest and done a bunch of the Varrock achievements to get the Varrock armor. But after that, you either sell the bars, sell the ore, or just smith it all the way into burial armor which, again, is just trashing it for xp. Nothing in between is going to sell reliably enough or high enough to profit on, usually.

I tried RS3 and was so overwhelming at first then I played for 2 hours through the starting slayer stuff then decided the familiarity with the extra effort to play wasn't worth it so i went straight back to osrs.

Mined adamant and luminite for about an hour and a half, converted in to bars. Used some to get to 50 Smith and sold the rest for just shy of 700k gold. I did use adamant stone spirits but not too shabby.

I’ve been enjoying RuneScape3 but idlescape distills it down so good my interest is waning as someone who can’t spend hours grinding. Is there any group content in RS3 or is it all solo? The streamers are solo but that’s streamer stuff usually.

Yes, the following are popular group content and you can sometimes find streamers for them: Elite Dungeons 1-3 Vorago Solak Rise of the Six Mazcab Raid Also, yeah, hop in the Discord.
