I accidentally forgot to warn a friend from out of town that there was meat hunks in the black eyed peas because it's just a given to me, and they were a vegetarian. Sorry, friend, it was not malicious, I don't have a weird vendetta against vegetarians unlike a lot of southerners. I just thought they knew, I thought that was an everywhere thing. Don't other beans have like ham and stuff?

best sides: cheesy grits
mustard or collard greens (sprinkle tabasco on this)
if you're doing breakfast then homefries or breakfast potatoes, they're the same thing
I like biscuits and all but they just sit in your guts all day like bricks so prepare for naps if you get them
I'm gonna assume texas cavier isn't a thing outside of my state, so normal black eyed peas are good too

best desert: buttermilk pie

Ah Ok. What's the occasion? Being in the south during the winter while a global pandemic is ravaging the country isn't going to give you the best impression of the place.\

E- \/ Yeah I'd distance myself from the South as much as I could too.

Re: Krystal:

I have the stomach of a billy goat. I've eaten rancid, slimy lunchmeat because I didn't want it to go to waste.... twice. Barely a tummy gurgle, after.

I couldn't finish 4 Krystal sliders because they smelled so rancid and turned my stomach. I made it through 1 of the 4 and just threw the bag out.

I lived in Memphis for years. They call that region the "mid-south."

okra is great. collard greens are good as well

okra is also good in gumbos and other soups. it doesn't need to be fried all the time!
