I can't imagine being a smart, talented person who's good at your job and you have to listen to this moron lecturing you and your co-workers everyday for an hour, and then afterwards you know he's having dinner with the boss and whispering sweet nothings to him the whole time.

I asked Deshawn, if he was plaaaying fooootball in his spare time, he said yeh, and then I asked him if he was plaaaying with quarterbacks that were better than him. He told me he didn't know how he'd do that. That tells me right there, that Watson is not chooooosing to be the best veeersion of himself he can be. He's not completely committed to playing the football game.

2/3rds of the teams in the MLB have figured this out and are now garbage fires full of low-paid players. the rona coming around made it a little easier for them to commit full-force to it, I wonder if some of the similarly "analytically minded" NFL teams will hop on the bandwagon going forward

The difference is for many of the NFL owners they bought the team to show off and have something to talk about with their other billionaire friends. It's not about making money.

Of course, the family owned franchises are a different story.

All the money that was saved from rookie contracts ended up going to the super stars at a few positions: QB, WR, pass rusher. Everyone else got screwed.

Intruder posted:

Yeah but Bradford is basically the reason they created the rookie scale to begin with IIRC

He was like the third highest player in the league before taking his first snap or something

JaMarcus was also part of the reason. $61,000,000 contract with $32,000,000 guaranteed.

It's ridiculous but most sports writers don't have enough clout to control the framing of their own content (headline, photos, etc).

The guy who wrote the infamous "What if Vick was White?" article didn't write that headline or want a photoshopped picture of a white Vick as the article banner. It was added by editors.
