Hell year 2020 is almost over! Now it�s time to guess where our sport is heading in 2021, surely a magnificent period of time that won�t suck poo poo in some unimaginable ways.

The old thread will run until the actual end of this year. I guess we can see who �won� in 2020 then.

Anyway, here pretty much anything goes, you can predict match-ups and their outcomes, entire storylines, heel/face turns, championships changing hands, individual spots in matches, roster changes, injuries, retirements, debuts, PPV locations or lengths, it can be about what happens at the very first match of the year or maybe it'll be something we'll have to wait until December 31st 2021 for, it can be about one wrestler, one promotion or even trends in the medium of pro wrestling as a whole, star ratings, MOTYC/WMOTYC nominations - whatever you want, and don't limit yourself to the stuff I listed there. You can also make it as general or as specific as you like. People took very different approaches to predictions last year, check them all out in this post.

Particularly impressive/worrying was forums poster Venomous�s post about champions and tournament winners in the bigger promotions!

Well, let's predict, shall we? Predictions can be posted until this year ends (+ a couple of days maybe, whatever), then I�ll edit everyone�s predictions into the second post. :justpost:

The AEW World Title will change only twice.

Either Penta or Fenix will win a singles title in AEW.

There will be an episode of Dark longer than Wrestlemania.

The biggest victory Impact gets in its "feud" with AEW will be a non-title win over the TNT Championship holder with interference involved.

Think of the most excruciating and terrible Fiend segment this year. One that made you embarrassed for all the wrestlers involved and question why you're still watching. Something 20 times more embarrassing will be booked with The Fiend in 2021.

Bo Dallas returns to NXT and wins the NXT Title

TUE, Gargano, and Ciampa will all still be on NXT by the end of 2021.

Fox announcers will get so disgusted with promoting Smackdown (and its failing ratings) that by the 2021 NFL Season, Joe Buck is just making fart noises on air while the contractually obligated promos air.

RAW will air an entire 3 hour go home show for a PPV and there will be no discussion thread opened at all in this forum for it.

AEW becomes the #1 promotion in the world, and NJPW becomes #2

NXT will return to the WWE Network fairly early in the year. USA and Fox will publicly express frustration with the sagging ratings for WWE, with a huge warning to turn things around in 2022.

- A NJPW talent will show up in AEW. Maybe even at the first PPV with fans allowed back?

- Bucks will drop their tag titles at Double or Nothing. To make it extra spicy, they may lose to a team that isn't AEW exclusive like the Good Brothers or something wacky.
- Britt will be AEW Women's Champion and might drop it to Kris or a returning Riho before the year's done.
- TNT Championship is a bit harder to predict, but I'll say at least 3 or 4 champions in 2021.
- The AEW trios belts are made and all the matches rule, probably will get a sick tournament out of it too.
- Probably gonna get AEW's version of WarGames finally. Cody will probably (definitely) be in it.

Probably gonna come back before the year is done and edit in some more.

- AEW Dynamite regularly hits over 1 million viewers, and exceeds 1.2 million several times.

You forgot the prestigious KOPW Title; you surely need to include that. Also the Global Junior League was in January last year so I might reconsider that Ridgeway prediction to cover that.

After last year where out of five predictions I got one half right (predicted Sumo Hall for the Stardom 10th Anniversary show and they are running Budokan Hall so I'm claiming half a point for it) dunno if I should do this again but hey, why not.

1. Stardom's anniversary show isn't a total disaster - COVID limits carry on and reduce the amount that would have normally gone but they manage to put a reasonable number (2k+ I'd guess for them) and sell all of the comically expensive $1,000 seats. The uncertainty of COVID causes them to downsize the scale of their plans though - they keep running bigger buildings but its more because they can sell more tickets at 50% capacity there rather than a sign of massive ambition.

New Japan Pro Wrestling do not hold a major show (defined as a show featuring a large number of Japanese wrestlers with a main event of the standard of a named major New Japan show: not necessarily an IWGP Title match though) outside Japan in 2021; however they announce a return to MSG for early 2022.

5. The complications of COVID prevents NXT Japan from launching in 2021 however by the end of the year it becomes clearer who exactly is involved in it. They don't manage to sign any of the big stars from the major Japanese promotions outside of the one that they acquire to be the base of it and so start out by being reliant on their existing group of Japanese signed talent. Not going to predict the Japanese promotions they 'work with' since who the gently caress knows at this point.

6. British promotions come back in the middle of the year after the vaccination programme enables things to open back up with American fans of them being excited for the return expecting business as usual while British fans remain almost entirely disinterested. This is increasingly the case when promotions either come back with shows full of very green rookies without major stars or attempt to rehabilitate some of the people called out by the Speaking Out movement in front of not very large crowds: and this leads to several well-known British promotions going bust by the end of the year.

- AEW will run a tag team tournament involving teams from other companies. The Good Brothers will win it and end up facing the Young Bucks for the Titles
- Young Bucks will hold till fall where Top flight will end up beating them and winning the titles
- Hangman Page will beat Kenny For the title
- Kenny will end up facing Kota Ibushi at the Tokyo dome in 2022 Wrestle Kingdom

The biggest victory Impact gets in its "feud" with AEW will be a non-title win over the TNT Championship holder with interference involved.

Think of the most excruciating and terrible Fiend segment this year. One that made you embarrassed for all the wrestlers involved and question why you're still watching. Something 20 times more embarrassing will be booked with The Fiend in 2021.

TUE, Gargano, and Ciampa will all still be on NXT by the end of 2021.

Fox announcers will get so disgusted with promoting Smackdown (and its failing ratings) that by the 2021 NFL Season, Joe Buck is just making fart noises on air while the contractually obligated promos air.

- And an AEW talent will be at Wrestle Kingdom.
- Edge will re-retire before the year is done.
- JR won't be on commentary by the end of 2021 or at the very least, they'll reserve him for PPVs or special matches.
- "Speedball" Mike Bailey will either be in AEW or killing it on the US indies.
- Someone from the WWE women's division will make a big splash in AEW.
- One main event/upper midcard name will leave WWE to AEW. Maybe Aleister?
- NXT stays on Wednesdays, but talks about moving it either back to the Network or another day are extremely common by the end of the year.
- Whatever AEW's second show is will hit a strong enough debut rating to start said conversations about moving NXT.
- Kenny Omega, Adam Page, and MJF will be the AEW World Champs of 2021 with Moxley angling for the belt heading into 2022.
- Bucks will drop their tag titles at Double or Nothing. To make it extra spicy, they may lose to a team that isn't AEW exclusive like the Good Brothers or something wacky.
- Britt will be AEW Women's Champion and might drop it to Kris or a returning Riho before the year's done.
- TNT Championship is a bit harder to predict, but I'll say at least 3 or 4 champions in 2021.
- The AEW trios belts are made and all the matches rule, probably will get a sick tournament out of it too.
- Probably gonna get AEW's version of WarGames finally. Cody will probably (definitely) be in it.

Probably gonna come back before the year is done and edit in some more.

-Hangman beats Brodie at All Out to split from the Dark Order and begin his march to the title. He'll end the year as #1 contender, beat Kenny at Revolution 2022

-Jake Hager will be the one to jump back to WWE

-Karrion Kross will be the year's shiny new toy from NXT called to the main roster. He'll speedrun Miro's booking and Scarlett will be with Bobby Lashley within 6 months of the callup

-Retribution will somehow still be around and will also still not have had a ppv match

Brock Lesnar makes a surprise appearance at the first 2021 WWE show with a real crowd. Brock will also squash whoever beats Roman for championship on the Smackdown "season premiere" on FS1.

Sami Zayn will not be wrestling for WWE by the end of the year but won't appear on AEW until 2022 because of some bullshit contract dispute with WWE like Rey Mysterio and PAC.

John Cena will not have a proper wrestling match in 2021 but won't officially retire from WWE.

WWE 2K22 will have CM Punk as the pre-order bonus character ala Ultimate Warrior. Punk will wrestle a match or two for WWE but won't significantly boost the ratings.

Wrestlemania will be only one night and will go on for too long. There will be fans with paid tickets.

WWE will in fact run two shows in Saudi Arabia again. The second one will have some controversy occur that the wrestlers once again won't act on.

The first two-time champion in AEW will be....The Young Bucks.

The forbidden door will remain officially unopened, but relations will warm significantly.

G1 Climax will be in the fall again. There will be three matches rated 5 stars or higher.

ROH, GCW, Billy's NWA, and IMPACT! will survive the year. Pro Wrestling Guerrilla will not run shows until September when they return for the biggest BOLA yet.

BOLA will feature the first wrestling card to feature both an AEW contracted wrestler and a WWE contracted wrestler on it.

EVIL will win the IWGP HW championship again.

Kurt Angle will appear on an episode of Dynamite.

There will be an angle between an as of today contracted NFL player and Chris Jericho that occurs in AEW.

Cody will beat SHAQ. The match will surprise many people and get at least 3.5 stars from Meltz.

NXT Japan will be announced but not launched. Keiji Mutoh will be the face of it.

The 2021 Bryan & Vinny & Friends Christmas Show will be the most debaucherous one yet.

Nick Gage will appear on an episode of Dynamite.
