I always thought it was dumb that there was so much gatekeeping of things like marriage and baptism. Should they want you to go through the sacrament rather than do it with a "celebrant" at the Registrar's Office?

I even went to a wedding where the priest used his homily to basically berate everyone in attendance for being godless. I'm sure the happy couple really appreciated that, dude.
