The luck was that we have states that looked at who was in charge of the Covid response federally and promptly sidelined them almost completely. Also there's really no obligation to run a "this is fine actually, what's the big deal" type defense when they've badly mismanaged the vaccine rollout, missed all of their promised targets and timelines by an enormous margin, and lied and spun their way around it constantly. They were spruiking the safety of the AZ vaccine and how minuscule the risk involved with it is and how the rollout was going exactly as planned today!

It's something that's been going on for a while. This isn't a good thing but the guy who thinks he's an untouchable ace reporter walked himself and his staff into this one, it feels like.
