Subnautica could be added to base building games. Probably wouldn't have gotten into Satisfactory if I didn't have the base building itch I got from Subnautica, now after 500 hours of factory construction I've had to start over on a new save because there's so much stuff in my game world that the framerate has become unplayable. Is Astroneer worth a look after playing so much Satisfactory? The looming update 4 for Satisfactory has kind of disincentivized playing it, knowing any late-game production lines are going to break when it drops. Had my eye on Astroneer for a while but it looks a lot more casual and potentially shallow by comparison.

Mayveena posted:How can Astroneer be a factory game? At least in the style of Factorio. Until very recently it had no automation at all. One thing maybe I'll do one day is list games in multiple categories but pretty busy at the moment and then we'll still have the disagreements. However I may do it one day anyway. I picked it up last night and played a few hours. Not very far yet but one of the research trees has a robot arm that looks like the ones from Factorio and there are references to input/output mechanics. It's been relatively "casual" so far but looks like the base building complexity ramps up at least slightly as you advance in the tech tree.
