everything counts as anime. especially the things you like, but especially the things you don't like.

the 90's anime that anyone remembers is pretty fuckin' sweet. the rest of it was forgotten for a reason.

i am weak to the entire isekai subgenre where the isekaied main character introduces liberalism to feudal world tbh. slime & log horizon both are 100% that

log horizon is fascinating because it really delves into what it means that a bunch of mmo players become their characters in a real world, but only in actively boring ways.

isn't it basically isekai but the people who make spreadsheets for the goon squad transfer over?

pretty much, and then they have to form a functional society mostly from scratch. it has a lot of ideas and plot elements that sound really interesting but then just plain aren't.

the weirdest, most obsessive and generally exceptional people are also the best at nen. the hunter org's purpose is to attract those people and exert some influence on their behavior by providing incentives and goals. it doesn't really work that way for people who take the exam when they already know nen, but the test is mostly a formality for them anyway.

Is there ever gonna be anything more outta the Vampire Hunter D franchise or is that firmly dead and buried

it was a rather long series of books and very few of those have been adapted into other media. there was a cgi show that got stuck in development limbo a few years ago. otherwise yeah, pretty much dead.

the deep dark secret is that literally anyone can learn to at least perceive aura if they work at it for long enough. the secrecy is in large part a matter of non-proliferation. this is made easier by how superhuman feats aren't exclusive to nen users. even aside from nen, it's not like it is a mundane world.

the best webnovel translation was the one where the guy intentionally and openly refused to translate any common noun. it was almost completely unreadable, because obviously there weren't footnotes or anything explaining what all these untranslated terms meant.

why did they make the skeleton guy in Overlord lose all his emotions and personality upon being transferred into the other world. That was a baffling decision. just make it about a tough skeleton guy in a fantasy world at that point.

Or actually just don't make it at all, who gives a poo poo about a protagonist that can't feel feelings

i wanted overlord to be about a mostly decent guy stuck in the role of an evil skeleton. instead he just went evil with no hesitation. despite the occasional lighthearted comedy bit, it is about monsters being monsters and i'm just not into that.

my favorite thing about bleach is how it never introduced terminology for a ghost dying despite that being pretty much the only thing the manga was about. most of the ghosts did not die, due to popularity or kubo's bad writing habits. but this does not change that the various ghosts were constantly brought to the edge of ghost-death. another funny bit was how most of the important ghosts were nobles, meaning they were the result of ghosts bumping ghost uglies and pumping out ghost babies. they were never human. ghost
