I support prison abolition, except for posters without avatars.
All the names are starting to comeback with big scores from back in the day. Didn't Gobbo crush a 10k at the venetian or something like that? And didn't stefan win a sunday million on stars? gently caress, why do I remember this stuff?

Haha yeah but he may be thinking of the Bellagio 5k I believe that Gobbo did actually win for like 500k?

And yeah I ran good at the sunday million and won one, and a cake 250k that same year, then I quit MTT forever haha

We had a lot of scores, Unamuno won a WSOP bracelet, as did JCarver, Goodeh and Steve O'Dwyer (formerly MrTimCaum) won...idk..a lot of things

Hey I get to try out using the probation button, yay.

I wasn't even aware of the QCS forum before a few days ago, but it definitely seems like the more appropriate place to handle all the bitching about supposed racist tendencies of admins/mods/your mom.

Holy gently caress this is amazing.

I used to lurk PitR all the time because I never much cared for online and cash but loved to learn thought processes etc. and enjoyed reading a lot of higher level stuff that Vivek, JCarver, MTC, Adar, etc used to write, even though I never really understood it. I've been going to the WSOP every year since 2016 just messing around in smaller events because a buddy of mine that I used to play .25/.50 with when we were in Junior College ended up going pro, winning a bracelet, and generally crushing poker, always get together for a lunch or dinner every year while there. I finally had my 'aha' click moment in 2018 when I played 3 events and cashed all 3, 2 WSOP and a Venetian DSE cash and tournament poker just sort of started to click. It was a weird, almost out of body experience where I started to feel almost like I was in the matrix or something. I completely stopped doing stupid poo poo I used to always do, and just had a completely different perspective. The feeling of coming back that year with (what was for me) a fat stack of cash at that point was surreal, and I'll never forget the moment that my wife and my parents saw me as someone that could win at poker. The vindication was huge. I've never thought about trying to put the work in to go pro because I honestly just don't think I'm good enough and don't think that it's worth it now, but I love tournament poker and love reading, studying, and thinking poker, so this is super cool to see this sub-forum back up.

The Venetian DSE event was $400 and the highlight of that was sitting with Phil Laak (blew my mind that he was playing in such a small event) on my left for 4 hours, who eventually knocked me out. Amazing conversations about drugs, top TV shows of all time, side bets, and Jennifer Tilly. Also met JCarver after some back and forth messages on here over the years and he was a really cool dude.

So thank you to all of the above mentioned posters, as well as Stefan and others who have posted theory, hand discussion, and just general poker chat over the years. I attribute a TON of my (limited) success I've had in poker to early PitR and this is so exciting to me to see this back.

Sweet to see the forums back. Would love to see a GSOP again one day.

One of my fondest memories was JCarver drafting me 2nd in his team for a GSOP Omaha march because I was smart enough to guess a 50/50 preflop and like 78% preflop hand without using a calculator to find them. I busted like 2nd in the tourney. Dumbass.

I haven't played much since Black Friday and moving to Tokyo not long after.

Funny story, a coworker was telling me about a home game they play and said don't worry they aren't too good after they told some dude named John he wasn't allowed to play any more since he always took their money. Turns out it's Juanda and my coworker had no idea of his poker history.

Man I was just thinking about the GSOP. That was so bloody fun. Didn't we have a variety of tournaments then the winners of each got to complete in the main event?

I remember setting it up each week and trying to get pros to join that was always cool when they would. I'll have to try and find the old threads about the GSOP - would be neat as hell to get that going again.
