poot released on steam today. It's on the latest patch (mixers fixed, more npc dialogue, npc conversation zoom) and there's a free Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin tie-in dlc

The lava dungeon and ice dungeon's boss drop are in the liquid category. Orcs and goblins can drop Glue. The Ribbit frogs can drop AND produce Viscous Fluid so these are the monsters you want to tame

The heart material can also be gotten randomly from treasure chests in the ice lake overworld.

You can also get the completed heart necklace (doubles all skill gain rate) early through Terry's reverse gift gacha - he gives you a random accessory after being given 5 crafted armor/shields. The cheapest thing you can give is small shields, which only cost 1 of any ore.

So far I've gotten the heart necklace and a wisdom accessory that gives passive RP regen along with a bunch of INT. The wisdom accessory isn't acquirable until postgame.

Darroch has a similar reverse gift gacha where he'll give you a random hammer weapon (up to a certain tier depending on your story progress) after being given 5 prepared meals. The cheapest meal you can make are pickled turnips so you can just buy turnips at the general store once you have a steady cash flow. You can get the highest ATK weapon (a hammer) in the game this way and then transfer the attack power to a better weapon family.

RF5 accessory crafting info
https://www.reddit.com/r/runefactory/comments/trw41u/accessory_inheritance_mechanics_in_rf5_and_how/

First accessory will overwrite the effect no matter what then it's RNG whether the extras get carried over

I'm in the postgame and farming for rare drops from the final boss is driving me insane :frog:

I am assuming this series does not do huge numbers despite things like Stardew doing gangbusters, cause in many ways it feels like something trying to keep up with Stardew rather than the big series that inspired it.
that's what Pioneers of Olive Town attempted to do and failed at :v:

RF5 is very much mechanically RF4S except being fully 3d instead of a 2012 3DS game ported to Switch/modern platforms. Performance is the biggest issue with the game, but can be alleviated if you are playing on an overclocked Switch or emulate the game in Yuzu or Ryujinx. Both emulators can run it consistently at 60 fps/interiors and ~45-60 fps/outdoors depending on hardware.

PooT and RF4S ended up coming to Steam so I wouldn't be surprised if RF5 gets a port in a 6-12 months. An added benefit of both ports and a future RF5 port is being able to unofficially transfer your Switch saves over to the PC versions. PooT is a straight file copy and RF4S is a checksum edit

Emalde posted:

Has anybody figured out if you still need RF4S save data for the guest characters or if they got baked in with localization?

You need to have any RF4S save file to get Doug and Margaret to join your RF5 town

Terry: almost any accessory in the game
Darroch: various hammers depending on story progression up to a 5555 attack one, which not the highest attack weapon, but more than enough to take you deep into the postgame dungeon
Ryker and Radea: Scales including rare ones from dragon enemies only found in the postgame area
Murakumo: Claws and Horns including Dangerous Scissors, which is one of the best attack upgrade materials and needed in higher level weapon recipes

gonna dump the JP and EN wikis too

RF5 autosaves at the start of a new day from resting in bed (doesn't count events that force a day to pass) and whenever you enter any dungeon floor so you can force autosaves if you warp to a dungeon. The postgame dungeon doesn't autosave normally with the exception of floors with bosses.

If you have the Companion Crest equipped, you can force people to join your party even while they're working. Once they reach a certain heart level, they will join whenever without the crest (some still require it) and won't leave the party in the evening so you can keep them in your group forever until dismissed
