I was hoping the latest episode would be more about speculating on the impending cyberpunk dystopia than more of the same bitter leftist axegrinding I've been hearing for years

I haven't seen the new Curtis doc and was wary about it even before hearing TrueAnon's (and Michael S. Judge's) take. The recent Chapo episode he was on was definitely less resonant than the first one, and Curtis seemed way more high on his own BS. That said, I really liked most of Hypernormalisation, and even if it lacked a clear cause/effect a lot of the time, I think it really did reveal a broad trend over the past forty years in the political/economic/social/tech spheres of consenting to austerity and authoritarianism, mostly for the lack of an alternative (that anyone is willing to accept). That's one thing that I think TrueAnon + MSJ missed. Yeah we may not need new ideas when we have socialism, but it's just not taking, especially in the US.

It’s good. Also now that he’s talking a bit more, I noticed that Yung Chomsky’s voice could be a dead ringer for David Cross lol

masterpine posted:Ep3's opening is a brutal listen. This series has been excellent and harrowing, production on point as always. I had to stop listening when they started to address the audience. How did they produce that segment? Did they write and find actors? Pretty incredible. I hope they get some recognition for this series. It has some solid connections that are so often missing from conspiracy theories, and that plus the really personal element of it should spur some mainstream interest.

Seams posted:Haven’t listened to the Synanon stuff yet. What’s it about? another mid century self-improvement fad that turned into an abuse cult, and is apparently an inspiration for many "troubled teen" alternative schools, including the one Brace was sent to.

I was with them at the beginning for "let's document stories of unexplained phenomena typically described as ghosts and UFOs with an open mind" but then they started to lose me on "are yetis real on a scale of one to ten", "astral projecting is how we see other dimensions", and Liz's "ghost story" which Jack correctly identified as simply sleep paralysis lol has anyone listened to "Otherworld" and is it any good?

I dunno. Europe is all in on this poo poo, to an almost inexplicable degree. Germany doesn’t seem to care that we blew up their pipeline. France lamely bitching about American hegemony goes back to De Gaulle at least It’s also very hard to buy his argument that the push to Kiev was a feint

The Octopus stuff is wild. Never heard of it, can’t wait to hear more in the documentary. Hopefully there’s more that ties the Promise software to the Indian res that CIA guy was running. What was the back door in the programming used for?
