It looks like "progressive" groups made big gains in the ADEM elections this year. Does anyone know if any of the groups are actually progressive or are they just liberals using this year's buzzword? https://twitter.com/alfred_twu/status/1360108704134098944?s=20 Also, LOL: https://twitter.com/alfred_twu/status/1360111109114482688?s=20

FlapYoJacks posted:Make voting a holiday and mandatory 8 hours of paid time off, then watch that percentage jump. This solution, however, would mean that people that can afford to vote would be in the same boat as the poor, and that is unacceptable. Would that do much when every voter already gets a mail-in ballot?

Isn't it good to live in a state that takes the environment so seriously that it will take almost a decade to figure out if building a rail line is good for the environment or not? https://twitter.com/numble/status/1578079805366362112?s=20&t=LuAqB7B-bN_xFPy--rvaYw

San Diego's airport used to be named Lindbergh field but was quietly renamed once Lindberg's WWII era politics got too public to ignore.

a.lo posted:Just make it to Vegas. I don't want to visit San Jose anyways. Brightline is building a Vegas branch, but the California terminal will be in Rancho Cucamonga. They're relying on CAHSR to build the link into LA. Also, the headline is misleading - it makes it sound like they've already spent $100 billion when they've only spent about a tenth of that so far.

Morbus posted:That's somehow even worse considering how long they've been "building" this thing lol That's how non-freeway infrastructure construction works here. You can't spend what it would take to build the project in one lifetime because you get headlines like the one above. Instead, you spend as slowly a possible so everything takes a lifetime to build and costs 200 times as much.
