I was thinking the same thing haha. Also I was slightly intrigued by Anthony's grooming update from the previous week's episode, where he described it "being clean like an ice luge" or something like that, but after this week's update I'm out again

It's bizarre that they did this but ignored the pile of gold coins during the BDSM episode.

I also just launched episode 1 to see if my "it starts good out of the gate" claim is true, and yeah it still sticks.

Me too, I’m on episode 28. I got two other people into the show and want to talk about new developments but they’re only on 22 :argh:

E- the part in talking dad when they started saying the walter/paeden patreon episode would be about them loving was amazing. Beth completely losing her poo poo is the best

Anthony has a lot of balls to keep in the air on account of having to play all the kids and NPCs, but the thing I respect him for the most is managing to remember which one is lark and which one is sparrow because I don't think I ever will

Yep, it's Grant.

I can't keep Lark and Sparrow straight either, they're basically just one giant combined kid in my head. I think it'll be easier to differentiate between them now after the deck draw though.

I was listening at work and had to stop midway through, before Ron does his perception check. It was fun trying to decide what I thought was going on. They did a great job but I do think it would have been better if they hadn’t edited out the group perception roll in the beginning.

Sparrow is the one that Henry had a breakthrough with and is still a violent sociopath, but much more optimistic and responsive to Henry's attempts at parenting. Lark didn't have that breakthrough and almost died during the pyramid incident separated from Henry, and has a seed of resentment toward Henry/unresponsiveness to his parenting that Anthony has used as a jumping off point for the whole Grudge thing.

Either that or I have it exactly backwards and Anthony is really having one brother get character development for some reason but I'm not going to go double check old episodes while I'm at work

I've taken kind of a break from DMing in recent months to maybe see if I can recharge my ideas, and one thing I've noticed in DADDPOD is that the party actually has a leader in Darryl (and sometimes Henry). I think that players in a lot of other Actual Plays are afraid to have "leaders" who keep the group moving along, which has resulted in a lot of APs hitting some roadblocks in terms of progression. Even Critical Role Season 2 was dragging really hard for a few dozen episodes, eschewing forward progress in favor of role-playing during long rests. Meanwhile, Darryl or Henry are usually helping Anthony to keep moving things along. I just really appreciate that.

Same, the whole not addressing it thing combined with only one player (and that player being Ron) failing the check made it so much more memorable than if I as an audience member knew what was happening the entire time. It's been a minute since I've listened to the episode, but they even included Ash in the pre-episode banter without calling attention to it as being weird, didn't they? That made it even funnier imo, it still would have been good even if I did immediately know what the joke was, but it was so much better how they did it.

I thought that Anthony was going to do it toward the end with Willy parting on "I've got one more thing to say..."

Probably should have done it just to really nail Willy's shithead villain role even if he would have to DM ex machina out of it afterward.

Soysaucebeast

Y'all I can't handle aggro Anthony. Normally I don't have any sort of reaction to shithead characters, but Anthony as Willy just makes me feel like I hosed up and am about to get smacked and I really don't like it. this arc is going to be bad for me, I think.

It's spooky because Willy talks exactly like my dad did to me. The only thing missing is Willy saying "I'm not criticizing you" or "You're being oversensitive" every time Ron objects to being insulted or told to shut up in front of a group of people.

Even with all of that, I gotta say I loved the episode. I've been listening to the TAZ backlogs again and got super bored because they don't really have any villains, so I find it kind of refreshing and empowering to have a real piece of poo poo for the group to want to take down. That, and the jokes in this episode were some of the best in a while.

Oh for sure. I think I've given up on TAZ finally. Season one was amazing but Amnesty was bland and Graduation was so bad I stopped listening until they started their current season. I realized I was forcing myself to listen to it and now apparently Travis is a sex pest (according to Reddit, so you know how much that is worth) and I think I'm just going to unsubscribe.

I tried Critical Role for a while, but those episodes are just SO LONG I can't. I listen to podcasts while commuting, and one episode would take me three to four days to get through and I would just forget what was going on.

Dungeons and Daddies is the perfect length and continually engaging. It's by far my most favorite DnD podcast and I think it's my favorite out of all the podcasts I listen to.

I only saw that Trav was being weird about linking listeners' Onlyfans, but I don't know much beyond that. It feels like they generally want their brand to be somewhere between PG and PG-13 but with the occasional "gently caress" thrown around. I'm 32 and I just don't really have the patience for listening Travis doing a baby voice while his brothers apologize for every other sentence they thought of saying.

Yea, this is the post I saw, and there were some comments with more info. Looking at it again, it's more people being uncomfortable with them having a younger audience and Travis repeatedly asking for listener's OnlyFans with some other little stuff thrown in for flavor. I've just realized that I haven't enjoyed TAZ for a while now, and Travis has always been the weakest link of the three, so I just bailed on it. I still listen to some of the boy's other stuff (I love me some Sawbones) but I just don't listen to anything Travis is on anymore.

I've attempted to listen to the Adventure Zone from time to time and I just find the McElroys painfully unfunny. And I found Critical Role to just be dull as dishwater.

Since it sounds like Daddies is moving into the endgame of their campaign, I wonder how they're going to handle their next one. The title kind of locks them into a theme, but that would be kind of boring to just repeat the same concepts...

I don't want to turn a good thread into the horrible mcelroy thread, but I think it's premature to cancel him as a sex pest over this. I suppose he could be, but based on everything we know about Travis so far, it seems more likely that this is his clumsy attempt to be sex positive and support SWs (but with no awareness of how people will read into his behavior, which is a common thread with him over the years) than a desire to creep on fans.

I suppose you never know a guy so he could be, but I don't think I see it quite yet

Yeah, Beth has the title of the funniest one, and I agree, but Matt is really really sharp in a more subtle way, he's really quick to slip in a joke about some weird little in-character thing that Darryl would do based on his personality ("sorry we turned into a bird" etc).

I also enjoyed him in the trial arc, where Darryl's behavior whipped back and forth between his hatred for Willie (or whichever dad was the judge) and his innate respect for and deference to the authority of the position of Judge every time he had to talk to him.
