Iain posted:I was looking into work that required security clearances and was disappointed to learn that (from what I understand) even if it's legal in the state you can still get in hot water regarding your clearance? Hopefully this will fix that. May as well fix more than just that while they're at it but I don't make the rules. Because security clearances are a federal thing, so it doesn't matter what state you live in. Even in legal states, plenty of people can't smoke. Anyone with a CDL comes to mind.

Handsome Ralph posted:Federal legalization would be nice. Hopeful that it would also get rid of the dumb "If you have a medical card, you are prohibited from purchasing or owning fire arms" rule too. I don't think the current background check runs through state weed card databases. There are overzealous, conservative run shops that will definitely check any public facing rolls for your name, but those are the kind of shops that probably run off anyone darker than eggshell white, at least here. There are those kinds of shops in Colorado blatantly ignoring the magazine capacity ban and selling mags over the 15rd capacity limit without pinning them. I get that mag caps are bullshit, but it's the current law, it hasn't been struck down yet. Besides, I've not heard of anyone here losing their guns over having a medical card, unless they were already involved in the shady side of weed. As far as the state seems to be concerned, don't grow over your limit and they don't really care. Or just buy your guns before you get your medical card, or after your current one expires. Unless they've changed the background check recently to include medical cards, no one really gives a poo poo unless you're getting attention for something else already from cops/feds. If you have their attention, you're already hosed.

Welp, there's always 80% kits (where legal). Though the recent scrutiny is definitely making me think they'll be regulated away in the near future. Also it's more expensive than just outright buying an assembled gun. A glock 44 would've been about $100 cheaper than building my .22lr on a polymer80. A used gen 3 19 and the .22lr slide kit would've been about the same price a year ago. I got that thing pieced together and have yet to bother to shoot it. I need to go through the trigger assembly and round some edges, fucker doesn't like resetting. I lack the give a gently caress right now though.

E, nevermind. Must have misread. On why I did the poly80 .22 thing, it was part sidestep but I also wanted a .22 I could build. Now I see the keltec CP33 and wish I would have just bought one when my card was last expired instead of dicking around with this dumb thing. Eventually I'll find a gen 3 g23 and put the .22 slide on that. I have guns in my name already, I'm not dodging that, and I'll register it if the state eventually requires it. More likely I'll buy a g23 frame and cut the poly80 in half. CRUSTY MINGE fucked around with this message at 17:12 on Feb 2, 2021 |

Not offended in the slightest. And honestly, keltec has come a long way in the past decade, I'd trust their handiwork more than mine. The big part of it is the ATF doesn't have the manpower to enforce their laws. Also the lack of an electronic database. The NRA bankrolled legislation against them for decades and there are huge problems that legally they cannot solve or improve until an administration actually gets their party behind changing that. They might eventually get more money to update their records, but the laws won't be changing to actual tracked registration any time soon. And they have their hands full every second of every day, that won't be changing. Staffing will always be short though.

I know outdoor classroom spaces aren't ideal for a lot of the country, but wouldn't shifting the school year to everyone being home over winter instead of summer and holding class on the lawn while it's warm make some manner of sense? I see the occasional news piece about it, but never hear about any implementation into large systems, always just some wacky school in California letting grade schoolers mill around in the woods for a few hours a day or something, not setting up boundaries and rolling whiteboards onto the lawn. Kids don't need to be home all summer to work their video game crops, you can harvest those any time of year.

Flying_Crab posted:A $100 phone is not the same as any flagship phone, whether it be Apple or Android. If the cheap rear end phone meets your needs, go for it but there are significant differences, i.e. camera, performance, FaceID (are there any Android phones that have a similarly secure facial recognition system yet?), etc. Oh it's no flagship, but can process plenty well for average person camera use or dicking around in spreadsheets. People think they need the newest samsung or apple to do their poo poo when realistically they could get by on something years old. It's similar to everyone wanting unlimited data and then using like, 2gb a month. People exaggerate their need to themselves and end up paying out the rear end for it. I do get that you're buying integration with apple, and that's handy, but I don't see the value personally. I'm not shuffling documents or files to/from my computer on any regular basis, and a usb cable is always laying around anyhow. Paying several hundred if not a thousand bucks or more to avoid using a cable is not in my economical wheelhouse. For what it's worth, most android interface stuff is garbage compared to apple, but again, not paying to avoid having to think a little harder or scratch my head for a bit.

Is that a stall so a vote doesn't happen today. Because that feels like a stall. I feel the opposite about apple keyboards. Any time I used a macbook my typing would go out the loving window. I haven't tried an iphone keyboard, I'm just used to hitting backspace anyhow. I will say the keyboard on my old google 3a was better than the one I'm using on this moto, but that's more response than key location. It's alright. I thought my friend here was past that stuff, then one day I noticed some funko pops in a corner on a bookcase. Then I saw more. Turns out he has a tote full of them. He is weirdly, staunchly anti-anime. I'm not a fan either, but his dislike of anime and collection of funko pops are fairly clashing. Most of them are DC or Marvel related anyhow. I like my bare walls too much to put up poo poo. And I like spending money on things (weed) that aren't molded plastic beanie babies.

I have the bong I made out of a LAW. That's about as peak decor as my stoner rear end gets. I'd offload it as art but I put Bob Ross' likeliness and Happ Trees on it so I can't exactly sell it. I'm also not sure who'd want it. I need to find a stash of cheap LAW tubes and start turning them into bongs for retail sale.

Oh, I'm aware. A one off probably wouldn't stir any poo poo. Bob being a vet, a vet making it, I'm sure someone would draw parallels and create more meaning from it other than "dude just wanted to say back blast area clear after taking a monster hit." Peace and weed claiming victory over the remnants of a device of war. That kind of garbage. But I really like it and wouldn't want to sell it unless I could make another one handily. M72 law tubes aren't exactly cheap or abundant though. Mine was an already fired training aid at my last unit, where someone said to dispose of it. So I did, right into a foot locker.
