Anyway back to complaining about normal things and not catastrophic things, the daily event quest is now way more annoying to get done because Lockdown is only 15 minutes out of the hour, because they made room for the april fools thing for a whole week for some reason.

Well luckily that one daily event challenge is only a 10th of the daily points, and the stuff in the event shop is much cheaper than it has been in the past. Pretty easy to ignore it.

Yeah good point, despite the lost day I'm still on pace to max out the points before it ends, so whatever. Some of my settings did get reset, like my music volume went back to default and a couple keybindings reverted to default (probably all of them but I play on near default controls so ), if that didn't happen to anyone else I'm assuming the culprit is launching Apex via EA client that one time.

When did round 1 become like 8 minutes long? This is dumb and trying to get the "Survive 20 round closings" without partying is an enormous pain in the rear end.

The name “Alter” appears briefly on the leaderboard in the new event video. Also there’s a big green portal in the sky with what looks like Olympus coming out of it. I think it shows up on multiple maps, including Olympus, which is weird.

Hey thread, played this game a lot when it released and then fell off for years. I came back for a bit last year and then fell off again. I'm back again because other games are boring me and for whatever reason the game is clicking with me again. Man, is it hard. It feels like the only people still playing never stopped and are tiers above me in terms of aim and movement. I'm still having fun but getting back into form is a learning by getting smashed in the face repeatedly experience. I don't know if I was ever that good at the game to be honest. I'm torn between controller and m+kb right now. My background is primarily PC shooters and I feel more comfortable with a mouse, but I also have wrist problems that require me to wear a brace when I play games like Apex. I'm splitting my time between the two right now and I feel like that is not the right way to go about it. My m+kb setup is: zoom98 w/ gateron oil king switches and razer viper v2 pro w/ superglides on an artisan raiden mid pad. 1600 dpi x 0.75 sens. My controller setup is a razer wolverine v2 chroma at 4/3 sens, linear response curve, no look deadzone, small movement deadzone. I have the deadzone turned to the lowest possible setting in the razer configuration for the controller as well. Anything egregious about my setups? Any tips or advice on which direction I should go? I know this mostly boils down to personal preference but I'm curious if there is anything I can learn. I've been away from the game for a long time and who knows if I'm dialed in, close, or way off the map.

Absolutely personal preference, but you'll get some of the auto aim we PC players like to complain about if you go the controller route (just not as good as console auto aim). You might try playing the mixed tape mode a bit instead of BR to focus on re-learning the guns/movement/aiming since the action is quicker and you don't have to go through the whole cycle of waiting for a match/dropping/looting before testing yourself against other players. Next week is also the start of an event with a LTM where you get 3 squad lives, invincibility on knock, and super fast revives. This would again probably get you back to fighting quicker, though just don't make a habit out of something only available with those settings.

My very-non-professional opinion is that if you’ve got wrist problems you should probably get used to playing things with a controller. Any competitive advantage you might have from being used to m+k is probably outweighed by the potential of loving your body up even more. If it makes you feel any better, lots of people think that aim assist gives controller players the advantage anyway. I personally think it’s a bit blown out of proportion, but I seem to be in the minority.

Like the literal best players on mnk are better at long to ultra long ranges, but any closer than that and they're generally blown out of the water by controller players. that said, that's the top end. The average player isn't gonna be capable of pulling that off even with significant time investment. The problem there is a lot of casual players get hooked and start to invest time...

I just don’t like opening stuff on controller at all so I won’t. Also idk controller strains me more than using a mouse does by far but everyone’s got different poo poo going on I’m sure.

I was trying to be somewhat objective in my armchair analysis but yeah I feel the experience of being an above average mnk player and players clearly below my skill level still winning aim duels with me sucks and is not uncommon. Just kinda gotta accept it. Abroham Lincoln posted:ah, so the entire population of every unranked match I get into. unironically, yes. I moved from PS4 and controller to PC and mouse+keyboard roughly 1.5 years ago after playing on console since launch, and I've never had issues with destroying my former console brethren in the one mode where I meet them with any kind of frequency: Mixtape. Tried playing Apex on PS4 again for a couple of weeks in December, and it felt like a different game with how slow it was played.

Catalyst and Conduit are probably both the "meta" pick from their respective classes. Conduit being able to temp heal shields of teammates from far away is stupidly powerful. Catalyst's kit can completely lock down houses and control the pace of battles by blocking off viewpoints. Ballistic is fun in pubs, especially on King's Canyon IMO. Personally I find Ash boring to play, but her passives showing deathboxes on the map / tracking enemies from scanning deatboxes are very powerful tools for figuring out the flow of a match if you have decent game sense.

The post above is true, ash is great for strategic playing, tactical is subpar, ult is lacking. I wish she had a bit better kit via shorter cooldowns and probably tighter tact/more controllable ult so from this position I was gravitating towards Ballistic actually - sling that makes any weapon full gold in ult is tempting early/mid game but still undecided

Catalyst got slightly edged out by Caustic after she got nerfed, and I don't think she's that good at either of the things you described anymore. I switched to Ash at the start of the season and her new perk that calls out third parties has been really useful in pubs. also none of this matters and just pick the legend you think is fun to play

Thanks for all the contributions and perspective. Didn’t realize there was a bunch of data collected on the subject of m+kb vs controller. I’m gonna set up an appointment to get a referral to a specialist to have my wrist looked at since I have decent health insurance right now. Working on these stupid challenges for this wraith skin. If you are playing pubs and either a lone Maggie or Rampart with blue armor jumps down from the shadows and unloads in an attempt to ape your squad in the final ring that might be me working on my ring survivals
|
# ? Apr 21, 2024 18:44 |
The ring survival quests are insane to try to do solo because pubbies are unbelievably, nihilistically suicidal. Your best bet if you aren't partied up, apart from farming it via no-fill ratting, is to just go into ranked.

Don't use apex coins on legend unlocks. You naturally gain more legend unlock tokens as you level up, enough to buy a new legend every 20 levels The breakout challenges are pretty overwhelming right now because it's the end of the season and challenges for all 6 are active; you were expected to be able to finish a set every 2 weeks. edit: On the free battle pass track you usually get 200-300 free Apex coins per season, while on the paid track that number jumps to 1100-1200 (and the pass itself costs like 1000). Not really any other way to gain more coins without putting money into the system. dragon enthusiast fucked around with this message at 20:08 on Apr 27, 2024 |

WattsvilleBlues posted:What's the quickest way I can earn Apex coins so I can unlock more Legends? The challenges screens are a bit overwhelming for me and I can't really work it out. The weekly and daily challenges only give you battlepass stars, once your battlepass is level 110 you can completely ignore them, they do nothing. There are currently challenges under the "Breakout Challenges" category, you should do those, cuz that unlocks 6 legends on it's own, fairly unusual, like a week left on them I think. The other category there currently "Urban Assault" is also a limited time thing but only offering some cosmetics/badges, and these types of events come and go frequently, usually lasting 2 weeks at a time. Apex Coins you really only get by paying money, technically by fully leveling a battlepass you get slightly more Apex Coins than it cost to buy it, but I think that's like 150 coins profit per season, not much. Legend Tokens are given to you every time your account levels, unless you REALLY wanna play a specific legend, I would only unlock legends with these rather than coins. Most of your levels are gonna come from just playtime, so just pick your favorite mode and go for it, not much to think about. If you really wanna rush a lot of levels and not actually spend a ton of time playing, queue no-fill and find a least-exposed corner in a centralized spot on the map to crouch in, tab back in every so often to repeat.
