it's weird. it's also on steam remastered the not exactly rpg stuff is really good, using tetris tiles to unlock the world map, the lego gun modification system is great. the combat's pretty good once you get your head around it. the rpg stuff is...it's very anime. the world is really interesting

Resonance of Fate has a top 5 worst escort quest which is astounding since its an RPG The actual game also has an issue where what you do in the first fight is what you do the entire game.

Barudak posted:Resonance of Fate has a top 5 worst escort quest which is astounding since its an RPG Not true, there's also the way you fight when grinding in the postgame dungeon. But it really could have used a sequel that refined and expanded that. A friend of mine dumped his old 360 on me because I've me mentioned being interested in old xbox gamed, are there any exclusive games people think are worth tracking down? I already have a ps3 butnifnthe 360 version is clearly better than those are ok too.

all the lumines expansions if they're still available, the rockin' holiday pack has some really nice skins that I don't think saw any other release. child of eden, which while not great is still the sequel to rez. lost odyssey seems to be trending right now, but maybe just watch a let's play instead, also blue dragon. wartech senko no ronde is pretty cool. the beautiful katamari game is uniquish, I think all the stages were original to it. galaga legions, which you can find on disc.

So you'll have an issue where a ton of 360 titles (but not all!) are back compatible thus making the 360 the worst place to play them. Lost Odyssey and child of Eden, for example, fall under this. If you're looking for non-back compatible and not on ps3 and not rubbish here are some titles: Beautiful Katamari (seriously, so good) Ninety-Nine Nights 1/2 Magna Carta 2 So many Xbox Live Arcade games that I won't list them Dead or Alive 3 Culdecept Saga (ooooooh boy this one is "unique")

The Voice of Labor posted:I wonder if there's any appreciable difference between the ps3 and xbox360 versions of condemned 2. Not really, slightly better on 360 as usual: Digital Foundry posted:any difference in the colour levels of the two machines (something very important in Condemned 2) is basically taken care off by getting the user to calibrate their monitor the first time the game is started. It's something of an essential exercise as default settings on 360 are impenetrably dark over HDMI with full-range RGB. Once into the game proper, performance is very similar indeed. As is increasingly becoming the norm with many cross-platform projects, there's a puzzling lack of anti-aliasing in the PlayStation 3 game, and the frame-rate is a touch less consistent, but for the most part, everything runs nice and smoothly regardless of which platform you're playing

If all that matters is being a true exclusive Infinite Undiscovery Full Auto Operation Darkness The two (?) games that had discs pressed and retail units made but were pulled before officially going on sale IdolMaster Do you have a Kinect? The entire Kinect Library except Kinect Adventures, Kinect Sports 1/2, Fruit Ninja, Tem(? The puzzle game where your shadow makes the space the character navigates), Dance Central falls in this bucket.

Thanks for the tips, I'll have to see which ones interest me and that I can get my hands on, thankfully I have no interest in kinect game so not having one isn't too bad. Must admit I had ignored XboxLive arcade because I mixed it up with XBLIG.

Yeah for Xbox Live Arcade a lot of the best titles are backward compatible or escaped to steam. That doesn't mean there aren't oodles of good titles that didn't make the jump, but given playstation also eventually got its indie swerve on the period where the number of good true 360 exclusives will be relatively small. It also hurts that in the early period file size restrictions were insane so the type of game they could be was limited. That said Cloning Clyde was a perfectly fun and good puzzle game. Another list you might want to check out is "games which have digital copies that are only available on 360" as thats another source of identifying system specific games.

Apparently the 360 version of Ghostbusters can still be purchased via 360/backwards compatibility while the remaster people like less is also available so thats something to consider in this incredibly niche use case.

Oh duh, Senko No Ronde. The sequel went to Playstation but the original is a super fun 360 exclusive and at the time original fighter concept where its two shmup ships fighting each other on a 2d plane. We should all play that

My father in-law gave me his old XBox 360 Slim. I have had this system for 6 weeks now and surprisingly have a ton of fun with it! I love how I can buy yesterday's top hits for 5 Euro on ebay and spend hours with them, accumulating gamer score. For some reason this is more enjoyable than doing the same thing with my PC, might be because this is a dedicated device for games, I don't know. Feeling experimental I even bought a skin and applied it. Unfortunately the thing became rather loud recently. I am afraid I have to open and clean it sooner or later. There are some videos dealing with this, hopefully I can manage. Would you recommend getting deeper than just cleaning the fan with a q-tip? I can build a modern PC but I'm not sure about taking apart electronics. In the end it might be better to get another 360 E or S for 70 Euro on ebay. Thank you.

opening xboxs isn't that hard -if- you have one of the dedicated spludger/tab pushers that unlocks all the internal plastic tabs simultaneously. besides cleaning up the fan or replacing it with a new aftermarket one, there isn't a whole hell of a lot you can do to the insides.

I mainly miss my 360 for Beatles Rock Band. I had almost all the DLC, too. I remember it was one of the only places at the time to hear 5.1 mixes of those albums. I want to know what drug or black magic or whatever spell those Guitar Hero and Rock Band games had that made them so much loving fun at the time, like we were all ALL ABOUT THEM for a couple of years and then suddenly EVERYONE was DONE. It's like thinking about that moment when you hit adolescence and suddenly your childhood toys don't "work" anymore. All those plastic drums and guitars were magical until the moment they were garbage.

One of my friends was all about playing Rock Band. In fact, we would play it non stop on New Years, probably pissing off the neighbors. He wound up so good at it that he would play a Muse song on hard and walk up and down the stairs behind the TV playing it as a trick.

I played through WET over the last week and while it has some problems it does something I really like design wise. It makes sure that the optimal way to play is also the coolest and most fun way to play. So rather than getting stuck and having to resort to cheap tactics like turtling, doing cool stuff is the more powerful option. The baseline for the game is that the PC wields one gun and has no lock on, but when you do acrobatics like diving, sliding or wallrunning she draws as second gun which locks on to targets, so by being cool you get a more than 2x powerup. When doing cool shooting stuff you also get infinite bullet time, so it's way easier to rack up combos, which both gives you more upgrade points and boosts you health regeneration. So while the story is bad and the game ends on QTE boss fights and a sequel stinger they actually got the core design is really great. This feels like a stark contrast to Vanquish which I felt had all the systems in place to discourage you from actually doing cool stuff and pushing you into doing boring stuff, like if you use a weapon it's going to take longer to upgrade because you mostly got upgrades for picking up ammo when you were full. And it also had stuff like punching, bullet time and sliding being tied to the same very limited bar.

Im actually 100% with you on vanquish. I know the idea is you lived on the razors edge to do everything you needed to do but in practice it just made me play in weird cover leaving bursts with a gun I didn'r want to be using until I maxed out the gun I did. It wouldn't have been hard to fix either; 1) The amount of ammunition you get back should have been the XP you earn, so guns you use a lot get more xp than ones you don't 2) Boosting should have been free with the bullet time/punch sharing a bar

The non-existent boss fights and lack of story hurt it bad, but the gameplay was a heck of a lot of fun. Great soundtrack too, I know the grindhouse/rockabilly thing was played out by its release, but it fit the game to a tee and in a vacuum, the tracks they picked were fantastic. I still listen to much of the soundtrack on the reg.

ilmucche posted:How does PAL/NTFS work if I get a north american 360 in Europe. I want to sit on my couch and play Forza 4/lost odyssey forever. Why would you get an American system in Europe? There's probably no difference these days due to modern power supplies supporting the whole electric range and HDMI solving the old 50/60hz matter, but still, getting a local system should be much cheaper than try to source an American one.

I'd imagine that there were a ton more 360s made for the us than the euro region. hence they're probably substantially cheaper second hand.

I'd assume they're region locked differently.

Here is a list of region-free games. Notice how German, Polish and Russian games may be a special case. Video will be fine if you use HDMI or VGA. You will however need a EU power-brick or a converter. At that point you could just get the whole system though. XBox 360 are around 70-80 Euros in Germany and I'd be surprised if you had to pay more. Right now there is a nice "XBOX 360 E 500GB" for 70 Euros I am eyeing. So you should be good. I opened my XBox 360 Slim by the way using the "X-Tools" tool-set I bought. That turned out to be a waste of money as you can easily use a screwdriver instead. The inside was shockingly clean for a ten year old system. Looked like my PC after one week of use. Perhaps that's because the Xbox is not on the floor usually. Couldn't really do much but cleaning as there is no alternative fan to be found. I turned it horizontal on a whim and it is much quieter now for some reason. Weirdly it is loudest when playing Tales of Vesperia. Anyway that was a fun exercise.
