david_a posted:English is the weird one in that has a distinction between “hot dog” and “sausage.” In Swedish, for example, we use the same word for both. Well, hot dogs are a specific kind of sausage. It's no different from every other variety of sausage having a unique name. Hot dogs, bratwursts, black puddings, chorizos, salamis, fish sausages, etc, are all sausages but are wildly different, so you're gonna use their specific names when talking about them.

It's nowhere as bad as the twitter post made it seem. It's basically steps removed from a stuffed flatbread made with a lot of dairy. Something to try, but not go out of your way to make.

At least you can actually see the hot dogs and eat the whole thing like an actual sandwich, which is more than we usually get from Brazilian hot dog carts.

busalover posted:I thought about if it's worth the work of tying them up (instead of frying them whole), but there's probably no other way to get that squid-shape. They're just tied up for ease of moving such a large amount. Cutting them before cooking is all it takes to get the shape, it's just the casing contracting as it cooks.

It's like car cigarette lighters. Plug it in and the heating coils turn on, giving you a searing hot metal tube bouncing around next to you. https://www.theautopian.com/its-a-crime-that-modern-in-car-hot-dog-sizzling-solutions-are-not-more-common/

Why is it always cream cheese that peppers are stuffed with, my most hated kind. I can barely handle the smell when I make cheesecake for my mom. There's gotta be another cheese that can fill the same pepper niche.

How much more expensive is squid ink compared to price-gouged activated charcoal? Every fad riding place uses medication-loving charcoal when squid ink has been used to make sauces black for hundreds of years.
