No charisma, no presence, no ideas, no ability to read the mood of the electorate, just nothing. Love this section of her Wiki page that paints her as a highly principled individual "During the 2019 general election campaign, she argued in support of Labour's plans to increase corporation tax, because she believes "those with the broadest shoulders" should contribute more."

They'll be funding Labour's defence in the same way as ever, via the big sum they pay to fund Labour as a whole. Though it is worth remembering that Unite did cut their contribution to the Labour coffers. (At least I think it was Unite?) I'm happy to say despite being a left libertarian I'd prefer Tankies in charge to Tories.

Glenn Greenwald is a man who is absolutely not worth the amount of words written about him. He was always a libertarian which is pretty bad even if it makes him better than neoliberals on certain areas like civil liberties & global forever war, & like many libertarians he's gotten a bit too close to the sun & the glue has melted & now he is if not a fascist then still very comfortable around fascists. That said, claiming he's a Strasserite is reductionist drivel, as is the case 99% of the time someone labels someone a Strasserite as if it as a term as any meaning whatsoever. Darth Walrus posted:You could click through and read the article. It contains gems like this: I mean, the Attlee government wasn't exactly opening up the borders. (Well, it kind of did to Commonwealth citizens as an unintended consequence of the British Nationality Act 1948 but only 3,000 per year were coming in 1953 so I'm not counting it) There's always been an element of the socialist movement, often closest to trade unions, which regards immigration purely as driving down wages & a negative unfortunately, hardly restricted to just NazBols or Strasserites.

You're well within your rights to tell me to gently caress off after spending the last year bitching about people still in the Labour Party, but the Labour Holyrood candidate for Glasgow Kelvin has been removed as the candidate because she supports independence. Furthermore, the Scottish Executive Committee intend to impose a candidate. So if you're still a Labour member, & want to see a socialist candidate not get shitcanned for not agreeing with the party leaders on a constitutional issue, sign the entirely pointless petition: https://twitter.com/KelvinLabour/status/1369283490114572294?s=20 It's seems pretty loving shoddy behaviour from ScotLab, which is to be expected at this point, but what stands out is it's loving pointless. Labour actually finished 3rd in this constituency in 2016. But to leapfrog the SNP & Greens, you'd think they'd realise having a pro-indy candidate in a constituency that voted 60% to leave the union wouldn't be the worst idea. But no, ScotLab are incapable of learning.

Grape posted:People know the Greek monarchy wasn't like, actually Greek right. Yes, every royal family in Europe is German except the Spanish and Swedes who are French. But the House of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg went to Greece starting in 1862 so really they aren't actually German anymore than your average Bostonian is Irish because their great granny migrated. The Greeks overthrew the previous German monarch (from the Bavarian Wittelsbach house who are the Jacobite claimants to the British crown now) and the National Assembly ended up picking the son of the Danish king. So actually they chose their German/Danish monarch for some reason. The ways of monarchists are inscrutable
