Thanks for the bat post, Popete! That was great. Are MLB hitters mostly using 31 oz bats these days?

If any of youse guys like OOTP, (I know you do, Bewbies), OOTP22 is looking pretty cool. Individual players have a lot more slider settings, like you can select a pitcher and now he has his own individual slider for "pitch around", and everything else. The new ballparks look gorgeous, they have made some improvements on the 3D animations, and there is some new offshoot of Perfect Team called Perfect Draft that we still don't know the details on.

I should have included the link for OOTP last video in my previous post. There’s a lot of talky-talky in here but you can see the new ballparks at 22:20, sliders at 29:50 https://youtu.be/kqtwNyaVFQM

I was sitting here thinking how cool it might be to see a HRD at Coors, then looked it up, and I had totally forgotten about 1998. Did you guys remember that in the season McGwire hit 70 dingers, at Coors he hit just four in the first round and was eliminated? And Sosa didn’t participate at all?

Zack Greinke I think for me is one of the most interesting pitchers out there. I mean there’s the quotes and Greinke stories, of course, but he threw in the mid-90s in his youth but has now adapted completely to loss of velocity and just lives in the 80s. And gets it done, throwing in the 80s. Avoiding peoples’ power, working on getting popups and grounders. Talk about a survivor, a crafty veteran. Then there’s the occasional 60 mph eephus pitch. e: https://twitter.com/slangsonsports/status/1377655033651728388?s=21 MrMojok fucked around with this message at 23:26 on Apr 6, 2021 |

It’s clearly made worse by his huge swings though, and people in this thread I think said it had popped out before. Maybe it had even popped out during spring training?

Also shoulder injuries are just about the worst thing there is, for hitting. I’m no doctor or MLB player etc. etc. but this plan keeps sounding worse the longer I sit here thinking about it.

Help me out with something here. Having a brain fart, can't seem to find the answer on google, or else maybe I'm just wrong. There is a former MLB pitcher who has a son who is currently pitching in MLB himself, isn't there?

It's okay to hate on Bauer for being a chud and a malicious user of social media, but he is absolutely going to come close to his metrics from last season, and there is nothing that is going to prevent it. I know a lot of you hang your hopes on MLB coming down on Bauer for "foreign substances," just like some of you hung your hopes on the Astros really being penalized for 2017, but SPOILER, just like 2017, it is not going to happen. Not one single MLB pitcher is going to be penalized for using foreign substances for spin rate, or for carrying around soup for his family. Trevor Bauer might win the Cy Young again this season. Mark it down, motherfuckers.

I just looked it up and in 23 games, the Dodgers have thrown out three runners attempting to steal, and allowed... TWENTY-SIX steals. Barnes: 12 SB, 2 CS Smith: 14 SB, 3 CS CS%: 19.2% The Padres have stolen 18 of those, and been caught once.

Freeman said after the game that everyone hates those ABs against position players. I think while the position player certainly isn’t as formidable as a pitcher, there is on the other hand somewhat of a... foreign/unknown factor involved. An unpredictability.
