He doesn't have a personality and his team sucks but it's not just him in baseball terms.

It's a two-fold issue with Trout in that he's boring and honestly doesn't seem interested in being the face of the sport, but also baseball fans (of a certain tier and type) and MLB seem to insist that he has to be the guy.

They should be pivoting to the dudes who do want to be the face of the sport and just promoting the hell out of them, because a lot of those dudes are some combo of really fun and really good. Like you said, Betts is probably at the top of that list with Tatis Jr., but there are guys like Didi Gregorius who could totally appeal to people who don't already want to talk about them.

Franchy has the potential to be pretty fun, and Verdugo is probably better than people give him credit for but man it is stark how the Sox turned over a whole roster of fan favorites in short order.

I think they're agreeing on how many to play before they make a final call, there have been a couple of games where I think they've tacked on a half inning. Although maybe that would still count since it's generally just finishing the agreed-upon amount.

There was a quote from Cole about the seams feeling better/being more consistent but also I think they're still supposed to be using balls from last year, and the new ones aren't going to be a thing until the regular season (which seems loving idiotic on its face anyway) so who knows.

I absolutely love the layout of that stadium. The way the bullpens are built into the concourse rules so hard.

The Cespedes BBQ kids had the Sox in their could win 70, could win 90 bracket when they were ranking the AL, and that seems about right to me. Say what you will about the Mookie trade (and I will), but the team did spend money this offseason. If everything breaks right, this team could be the 2013 Sox redux, which I know sounds ludicrous, but honestly the two rosters have similar vibes to me. If the pitching stays healthy/competent, and they find a closer (miss you Koji) the team will be competitive.

I think the Red Sox will surprise this year and I could see them finishing above the Jays, honestly.

Yeah between the arm pain and the second shot potentially putting you on your rear end for a day or two, it seems reasonable to not want to get it in-season.

The answer was for MLB to fast track vaccines for players pre-season but time makes fools of us all.

You have to do it at gametime, iirc. Basically you select your feed, it'll say that you're in a blackout zone and somewhere at that point you can put in the credentials. I did it last season so I can't remember exactly how I did it but I know it's extremely counter-intuitive.

If you have a local TV login and are in the blackout zone, your provider probably has a first-party streaming service too, which may be easier.

Is it that surprising that the top jersey sales for 2021 are a bunch of Dodgers who just won the World Series? It's not like the 2020 season was particularly notable for the Angels/Trout.

Also I feel like Hernandez is a weird edge case in that he's incredibly well-liked, just won the World Series, and signed with a new big-market team so you have two fanbases who probably want to buy one.

I'm also interested to know what timeframe this is supposed to cover because who is still buying Boston Betts or Washington Harper jerseys?

I mean there’s the quotes and Greinke stories, of course, but he threw in the mid-90s in his youth but has now adapted completely to loss of velocity and just lives in the 80s. And gets it done, throwing in the 80s.

Avoiding peoples’ power, working on getting popups and grounders. Talk about a survivor, a crafty veteran.

Then there’s the occasional 60 mph eephus pitch.
