GirlOnCinema! For context, she's some youtuber who I guess found some mild success when she made a video about why AEW sucks and has since made complaining about AEW her whole gimmick. Her videos are apparently just like. Entire AEW segments with her talking over them and I guess she hits mostly all the same talking points as Cornette, so she's trying to court that corner of wrestling fandom. This is all uninteresting as gently caress and I have tried extremely hard to not pay any attention to it, but I find the latest wrinkle just, bizzarely compelling. Like at first I thought she was just some nobody youtube who accidentally stumbled into a tiny bit of success and was just trying to ride it as far as she could. But now she's basically just blatantly trying to lose all her accounts and I can't look away from it. Also apparently she's extremely lovely about Nyla, as per usual, and replied to a tweet of Aubrey wearing a Brodie armband for the Brodie tribute show with "Cringe.", so. All around winner. if you are a dumb rear end who looks into those tweets you can see that she tries to highlight some reasons why her uploading of huge chunks of aew content while talking over it is "fair use." but if you go to the website where she got that information, the very next lines on that site explain exactly why what she did was not fair use. exactly the next lines, separated by a paragraph break. it's clear she intended to get flagged if you watch the videos in question bc they're just full segments of the show with half-assed anti-copyright detection editing done to them. her other videos that are just as negative use shorter clips and didn't get flagged. ignoring my personal feelings about copyright and what should constitute fair use, it's clearly beyond what has become Common Sense Fair Use on youtube, and she absolutely knew that given that she went to the effort to edit the clips in an attempt to circumvent content ID. that said, tony should not have responded to her on twitter. beyond emboldening her and drawing in the fair use crusaders who have no connection to wrestling, you're just drawing attention to an extremely toxic voice that will likely benefit from Being Cancelled by a Billionaire or whatever narrative they're going to construct. i know to a certain degree the system requires you to put effort into protecting your copyright and they are beholden to some degree to TNT, so just flag it and ignore her. if you have to address it, do it generally instead of targeting a specific person and being passive aggressive
