yeah his accent was wack but he was by far the coolest looking of the bunch. i would also really like a zurg type guy, or a stock 'grotesque' type character who got burned by some type of science goo and is out for revenge. i dont know if the big mutant monsters you could make out of corpses are back or not, but he could focus on that type of stuff.

Playing the first game reminds me how little I valued my time 15? 20 years ago. I showed it to some friends and they couldn't take lady yelling over the loudspeaker every 5s.

The only thing this is missing is the little clarinet(?) 6 note sequence that would've been in the 4-5 seconds section of this vid if this was identical to the original score. It's the part that the strings then mirror the next two times. Otherwise, absolutely awesome rerecording of it.

The Steam decryption setup has consistently been dogshit over the last 10 years. I don’t think this game is going to be a big enough download to make it anywhere near worthwhile even if you don’t have insanely fast internet.

Visually she may look more Thatcher but I think the character is clearly inspired by Judi Dench's M from the Bond movies, so that's what I associate her with more. M snapping and trying to take over the world is a great concept, so I'm bouncing between her and Zalika to start with.

I hope when Steele shows up he looks completely different and somehow younger than he did previously without anyone commenting on it, just to lean into the Bond allusions harder.

I'm looking forward to this one. I haven't played around with EG1 for a bit but I remember discovering the infinite money cheat code made that one so much more fun. Even using that cheat, I don't think I ever bothered with the casinos  probably should check those out on the new one.

Yeah I assumed Emma was an M reference, like even her name is a little on the nose.

She rides around in a spider chair so obviously I'm playing her first

BTW Invisible Inc is $5 right now. It's not really like Evil Genius at all except being in the spy-fi genre, but it's a really fantastic game nonetheless

I love Invisible Inc and have been playing a run through it because I'm pumped for Evil Genius 2. The general theme of the games match, even though they are entirely different. I think I put 100 hours into Invisible Inc between the main game and the expansion when they each came out.

Where are you coming up short? The requirements are pretty low. If it’s the CPU, you don’t need an 8th Gen Intel if you have something that’s not an i3, an older chip that was a higher line should be fine.

My CPU is barely adequate, my graphics card is laughably inadequate (GeForce 750), and I haven't bothered to upgrade my Windows version to 10 since I was intending to buy a new system when 8.1 got sunset anyway.

The 750 is on par with the minimum specs of the 1030. Especially if you have the 750ti. What CPU do you have?

Ooof, that’s like right on the line. You’re kind of at the point where it should work albeit a bit shittily. If I had anything in my box of garbage that would work with your CPU socket I’d send it to you but I don’t have anything compatible with motherboards that old.

Oh man, don't even start to worry. My system is about seven years old at this point and it's done good work, but it's increasingly not cutting it anymore and short of a gut-and-replace which is more effort than it's worth I'm not getting too much longer out of it. Like I said initially, I intend to get a new system next year before 8.1 is sunset and I figure that'll do me for another most-of-a-decade.

Sadly now is maybe the worst time in living memory to build a PC for even casual gaming. Video cards aren't in stock anywhere except scalpers charging triple the MSRP.

Literally, I saw the $540 card I bought in like October listed for $1,500+ and even midrange stuff simply isn't for sale anywhere.

It’s made me very glad I keep my box of garbage. It’s all stuff I’ve salvaged while doing upgrades for people. None of it’s fancy but it’s been useful when people have computers break and they need a part to get their computer to at least work and it doesn’t matter if it’s good.

Farewell, marble-dwellers!
I caved and pre-ordered. I got a lot of mileage out of the original and finished it a few times too. My biggest complaint was that the only way to play was to just play the campaign again and again. EG2 having a sandbox mode and multiple starting islands (with multiple levels) looks like it will add some variety. My second biggest complaint would be the whole plot/steal/hide dynamic on the world map (especially when you just start a mission and the FoJ piece randomly shows up ensuring heavy casualties). I like what changes I've seen from early gameplay footage in that regard.
