QuarkJets posted:This is a somewhat special case, tons of streamers and youtube channels have been broadcasting the game for a few weeks. I'm preordering for a 15% discount on the basis of what I've seen in those streams: this appears to be a complete game doing basically everything that I'd want an Evil Genius sequel to do. If all of that was an elaborate ruse then I'll just get a refund Mind you, a competent media campaign disguising a broken game as an elaborate ruse would totally be fitting for an Evil Genius to do

Do I need to build vaults when I'm not above 40k gold? It seems like I have phantom storage for anything less than that amount.

If it's like the first game, Super Agents will always escape, and you will have to research a way to execute them in a spectacular fashion to finish them for good.

What's a good rule of thumb for specialty minions? 2x the amount you need to crew stations?

Have you guys had issues with non-deception minions distracting agents when you tag them? I assume that's why they immediately go into aggro, because said minions aren't the proper type.

I have a two-tier casino with 40 valets manning like 20 stations, and even tier 1 investigators are still slipping past into the main base, wherein they then go aggro on the first attempt to distract them. This is really getting on my goddamn nerves; I feel like I should just go embrace Ivan's schtick and just turn the lair into a fuckin' death bunker.

I'm trying to interrogate Eli's right-hand man to progress his quest but he constantly escapes every attempt. What am I missing? Also I made a little pinball course that knocks agents into a freeze trap at the end of a small winding tunnel. Funny, but it seems to work on only one guy while the rest of the squad keeps going towards the rest of the lair. The "full of level 3 doors and freeze ray traps" setup worked significantly better, sad to say.

Dark Off posted:if its the final quest you need to use brainwasher instead of interrogating drat, really? Thanks a lot! EDIT: It wasn't the Brainwasher lol, just had to somehow luck into a guard interrogating him. Any other minion type, hell, even a Henchman couldn't do it for some reason toasterwarrior fucked around with this message at 09:41 on Apr 5, 2021 |

I understand it might be thematically fitting to have my idiot minions move my treasury to a new vault by first packing up the gold and thus reducing my cash to gently caress-all, and then attempting to dig out the new rooms but having to stop because of no money, as opposed to the logical option of doing it the other way around. Still peeved at having to redo all the clicking again though.

There's a couple of things I'm thinking now that I'm like 12 hours in: 1) gently caress a casino, poo poo's useless. Yeah, investigators will keep coming but it definitely feels like as long as they never leave (because they're dead) then it won't matter, let 'em come. I can put armories and incinerators right at the entrance of the actual lair, watch my boys and gals terminate anyone that walks in extremely quickly, then burn their corpses right quick; why bother with valets and having to plan out a casino layout/trap corridor that stops working when higher level agents get deployed? 2) I've went wide, covering the world in level 1 networks while using the long-term money gain schemes to keep in the green. Apart from being a micromanagement nightmare, I'm told that level 2 networks in the right places are way better for cash than a slow trickle and having to watch the world map like a hawk? Maybe I should retool things. 3) After an arduous storyline where I stole Excalibur, the loving thing is still randomly setting poo poo on fire in my base. I hope it's a bug.

That's also a thing I noticed; I managed to keep two 0-stat agents tied up in the casino for hours, eternally getting bamboozled until I untagged them. I assumed that distracting inside the casino leads to fights but apparently not; maybe it only causes them when you fail a roll in non-casino rooms.

I remember someone here making a post about the archive room being unnecessary since it costs way too much for the smarts-restoring service it provides, but I'm seeing minions with low smarts not going for the cafeterias. What's going on there; do they need the dedicated poo poo once they dip too low in that stat?

Thanks for the confirmation. So do these re-education pods create heat, because I figure that freaky poo poo would set some investigators off...

Yes, click on an item and it'll say Suspicion: X in the info box. The X corresponds to an agent type, as opposed to a heat value, so I assume that heat is pre-set but if enough if a certain type of heat builds up, that agent type is sent to attack your base; ie. if investigators rack up Rogue heat from bringing home evidence of all the gold in your vaults, Rogues will be coming to steal (back) your poo poo.

I started a new game when the patch came out, and is it me or is there still really no reason to run a casino in this game and maybe just turn the base into a death fortress with incinerators in the frontlines?
