Tried to get photo of meteors but i was not lucky. Battery died quickly in -16 celsius + wind in the dark wilderness lol (chill zone? more like freeze zone) taken with canon eos 40d and a 20mm 3.5 lens from 1970's russia or something. have badly compressed gif of still images edit: .cr2 images in windows looks horrendous lol Big Mackson fucked around with this message at 16:48 on Dec 14, 2023 |

xzzy posted:That aurora animation is a cool plan B though. lowest i have is a 2 but it is 58 mm. got this yesterday with almost 30 minutes of exposure in total (in 20 sec sequences) i think i do a lot of things wrong since i dont know a lot of astrophotograpy. like sitting inside a car and taking photos through the windshield lol (it so cold, starfire burning upon the ice veiled throne of ultima thule) https://i.imgur.com/Vcq0xAn.mp4 edit: found the name of the lens, it is an old mir-20. xzzy posted:Meteors do last longer, but they move. The light from them will only hit a specific pixel on your sensor for a very short time as they streak across the scene. ISO 800 was very low, should have had 1600 minimum. Next time i use a 18-50 2.8 sigma objective and try to get a meteor mid death fall.
