I loved the consistency with the money jar clinking every time someone said "this". It must have been a huge pain in the rear end to edit.

The Halo Munch Squad was wild. It's such a stretch for an IP tie-in. It's like if the MCU started selling branded shawarmas, but in chip form.

For those of you who miss Car Boys, Let's Game It Out does something similar, in terms of messing with games until they break. The newest Planet Coaster one is a lot of fun.

I also liked TAZ: Dust. Travis is good for short stuff because it's easier to push a party through a story when it's about 4 episodes long.
Dust felt like it had more mileage to it than Graduation, and I wish they'd made it into a longer campaign the way they did with Amnesty instead of making a new one whole cloth. Graduation could've been a fun short one for a few months, but Dust felt bigger and its overall concept was more defined from the start.

Munch Squad may be hit or miss, but it did bring the Chicken Sandwich Wars to my attention. I don't watch a lot of stuff with commercial breaks in it, but the one time I did in the past week there were like 4 separate chicken sandwich commercials from McDonald's, KFC, Arby's, and Popeyes within a single hour. It's real. The Chicken Sandwich Wars are real. It's not just a press release thing.

Regarding Travis bits, Riddle Me Piss is a good bit, it's just that people who don't like Travis find the Riddlemaster voice annoying. Justin and Griffin pretend they hate it to dunk on him, but once they actually get into the bit, they always enjoy it. It's fun hearing what bonkers backwards logic user submissions come up with for "answers" to their dumbass riddles.

I think I've posted about this before, but Rachel is perhaps not the best example of calling out behavior. She basically became king poo poo morality cop on all their Facebook groups which caused a bunch of fan drama that as far as I can tell was a big reason they left Facebook completely. It's not the least bit surprising she was trying to call out Still Buffering for not doing a white privilege episode despite it not being their thing, and outlaws bean talk because diets are inherently fatshaming.

Yeah but if you drill down on a lot of what people are actually taking issue with WRT Travis it’s poo poo like “soy face” and the fact that he does poo poo with his look and behavior that’s traditionally coded as queer.

Like there’s a bunch of people who “find it obnoxious” or whatever in a way that totally isn’t :thunk: as gently caress (see my previous post on the matter) but there’s also a bunch of people who are mad that Travis is straight and legit consider him dying his hair the queerness equivalent of stealing valor. And that’s also super weird and not ok.
Well the latter is from people who don't realize queer and straight aren't mutually exclusive terms (or still conflate queer as the antiquated gay slur), so it's pretty easy to spot them at least.

Queer has long been an umbrella term that can apply to gender spectrums as well as sexual orientation spectrums, as well as the absence of them. For example you could be a cis male pansexual, a genderfluid male-presenting heterosexual, or a non-binary asexual, and all of those would be considered "queer".

\/\/\/Ehh, I get that, but then that gets into the "who gets to be queer" gatekeeping that I was talking about in the first place.

But I think the point we can all agree on is that nobody cares who ok comboomer writes off entirely as a human.

The prologue is fine, but I do wish that Griffin as a storyteller would fold the world-building lore into the story as they go, because I'm never going to remember a large portion of this unless there's a major thematic tie directly to the story that consistently reminds me it exists.

Yeah, it's still a huge exposition dump for audio that's going to be hard to retain for all but weekly appointment listeners. For the maps, they should really consider using Inkarnate. It's $25/year for Pro, it looks really cool, and the learning curve is super easy. I've been using it as a DM since beta and they keep improving it.

My thinking is that they could do it Dark Souls style, where they build up this fully developed lore behind the scenes but there’s no big exposition dump for any of it, and then as they play they just discover the remnants of the old world as they go. Maybe that’s more tricky than it sounds but the way I imagine it playing out it doesn’t seem any more difficult than anything they’ve already done.

This is how I DM and I've only been doing it for like a year, and it's not that much harder if you like to write and can stay flexible. A year in and my players still only know like 5% of the lore of my world so far because I trickle it out as they find a new place or fight a new enemy. It also gives me a ton of wiggle room because I can change or shift things on the fly depending on where the party goes, since they don't know what goes where yet. I actually feel like what Griffin is doing is harder in some ways, because then he has to stick pretty rigidly to his setup once the full campaign starts. That's a good way to write yourself into a storytelling corner unless you're really meticulous about it. Maybe it works for him though.

I'm totally fine with them doing Quiet Year as a cooldown mini-arc after a big one, the same way they did with Commitment/Dust. This mini-arc just happens to tie into the next season the way the beginning of Amnesty did. It also coincides with Griffin's new baby so it's a nice lighter break for him because he doesn't have to do nearly as much. Babies are hard to take care of for years, not weeks.
