Doom2020! posted:I still wish I could remember if I peaced out at the end of the "good era" and what exact issue. I hope the comic diverges at least a little as I like to be surprised. Anyone know why they made Seance Dog and not Science Dog? Is it because the comic was a Tom Strong homage? Probably because Science Dog is an actual comic book now and Hickman didn't want to include it into the Invincible licensing deal.

VagueRant posted:Everyone says the costume looks DC Comics character Nightwing (who is the same Grayson that used to be Robin) so I always figured it was an intentional homage. It's way stupider than that, Invincible's costume is the Image Comics logo.

Next wave would be one of the very few adaptations where Marvel creator payment policy is commendable.

It took longer, the end of episode 1 was in issue 8. This 8 episode season is probably going to correspond to the first 12 issue super arc. modedit: Removed spoilers Somebody fucked around with this message at 01:18 on Apr 17, 2021 |

I figure Rudy's voice is going to get better with time, not for any diagetic reason but the VA is doing his best Mantzoukas impression and it's really hard to do an impression and inflection at the same time. It takes time and a lot of practice that the VA might not have had time for.

Tequila25 posted:Apocalypse is probably the closest Marvel analog, being possibly the first mutant human and thousands of years old, but he is asleep for a lot of it. Selene beats Apocolypse by close to 15,000 years, she was a contemporary of Conan the Barbarian. But no one has really cared about her in 15+ years. This has pretty much taken the Marvel place as the dude that occasionally descends to Earth to play hero and party every few centuries.

He's the settings Superman, of course he's going to go all destruscto when he wakes up from death. Vvvv No? Unless you mean like a spoiler from when Superman came back from the dead and got a little aggro. I only spoiled it because the incident was spoiled upthread and I'm never sure on spoiler rules for weekly streaming shows. Macdeo Lurjtux fucked around with this message at 17:51 on Apr 28, 2021 |

Existing on Earth almost as long as humanity ushering it to be better and fulfill its destiny. Omniman isn't Superman he's Goku

CAPTAIN CAPSLOCK posted:Yes. She even tells Debbie not to blame herself as she was just as much of a victim as everyone else. I got the impression most of the Guardians knew each other on a personal basis too. It's why they dropped the line about The Green Ghost kept her partner separate from that life. That's not to say Olga didn't know about him and set up Debbie with that particular group to create that run in to torture her. Or even hired him to pretend to be her partner. I spoiled it because it's been so long since I read the books I can't remember if it's my speculation or a half remembered plot from the books.

Open Source Idiom posted:I thought this season (which, as far as I know was what these four episodes were commissioned as before Amazon ordered another eight) I dont believe that was the case, I believe they took a lot of the complaints about the show taking too long to heart and refocused some teams that would've moved on to later episodes in the production queue to get something out before the end of the year.

Open Source Idiom posted:I don't watch much anime so I can't comment on Jojo, but Castlevania did full season drops -- I thought it was implicit to the discussion that we were talking about seasons being broken up into small pieces separated by month long gaps (so comparable to the dominant US linear television release schedules of the last few decades, as per Stayne's post) rather than different, full, seasons being binge dropped with large periods of time between them. Latest Castlevania is broken up into two sub seasons. But it still doesn't refute too much since each sub season is 8 episodes. The Tick broke its season into 2 separate 6 episode stretches and ended up getting cancelled because no one cared enough about the back half. Disenchantment had its seasons chopped up and dripfed in chunks, killing the momentum the story was building.

7- 8 sounds right, the finale of season 2 is roughly issue 35 of a 140 issue run. And they've pulled forward some stuff from around 50. Might even do it in 6 if they pare down some of the more drawn out stuff where Kirkman was just kind of spinning his wheels and didn't know where or even if he wanted to take the story much further. Though that could just be me remembering certain arcs feeling a lot longer than they were because they were kind of boring and the release schedule was all over the place.
