Anyone know where my friend's mom is getting the idea in her head that the Covid Vax only lasts 6 months? All he got out of her was "THE NEWS" but that was the first I heard about it.

I have heard 3 from the people that listen to such things.

I guess some people have to finally choose between backing the blue or the troops.

Speechless. (Although I had a flashback to a montage of an alternate history where I finished growing up in Windsor, so that was super fun)

Bonus points for making GBS threads on catholics.

As far as I can tell, the J&J is not going to be an option in my locality, but it would be my preference. Much like if I take my car in for an inspection, and they tell me my brake pads are close, I ask how much and how long. And I'll pay 100$ more than normal, but I'm not going to have to make a second appointment.

It’s a specific, rare clotting presentation, though.

That said, I would take the J&J vaccine even if the numbers were ten times as bad.

Seconded.

I wonder how much we can peel away before it causes more harm than good? I'm having a hard time finding a study that looks at this.

The only similar thing I've heard of is that intersection in the UK (I think?) that got rid of the traffic lights and made it a traffic circle. Is there a country anyone is familiar with that works out fine with this? (other than active warzones?)

Local municipalities (at least in Pennsylvania) are usually on the hook for signal maintenance and are generally in favor of removing/not including them in new construction projects whenever possible.

Hence why despite postings of 65mph or whatever most people are doing 75-80 on your average day, even if the road is empty. Everybody is taught to respect the signage but nobody actually does.

The phrase you are looking for is "V85".

Nah, that's an alternate name for the Eastern Shore.

e: Oh, actually Delmarva is the actual name of the peninsula. (But stands for Delaware, Maryland, Virginia)

-Discussions of news. "Well I think this could have been averted if the engineer had not overgreased the bearing like a monkey who only knows one trick."
-Debate about news. "I disagree, over-lubbing a shaft bearing is a valid approach if one considers the Engin R DUMB theorem"

Things that don't belong in the news thread:

-Discussing other posters. "Stop licking the engineer's boot you dumb piece of poo poo."
-Ad hominem attack. "I bet you got your engineering license in a trashcan, where you belong, you engineer piece of poo poo."
-Attacks against merchant marine engineers. They already have it hard enough, the poor ginger bears.
