I remember a lot of the discourse around that game when it first came out and how UGH IT'S SO EASY and how you can't die and how these things make it a bad game or whatever and it's like do you see how cute the game is you philistines

I have to imagine it's far more common for kids to be sad about it, I don't think many kids are happy their parents are splitting up. I was absolutely devastated when my mom and dad told me they were getting divorced, like instantly burst into tears, and was a wreck for a very long time afterwards because I didn't get to see my dad every day like normal. Of course I'm 34 years old now and I can't even imagine them ever being together so it was all for the best

Ross (Rubberross) recently put out a video of his girlfriend Giwi playing east endless in Mario Maker. She has played almost no side scrolling platformers/Mario games from what I understand. She has played the 3D ones, but those don't require you to hold a button to run. So it was fascinating watching someone who has never played a side scroller just not have any idea how to do anything. It's easy to take for granted how naturally platforming comes for a lot of us

So I'm playing Mass Effect for the first time. I just beat the first one. I let the council die and only sort of regreted it when I read about mechanical consequences for the sequel and I'm pretty bummed to find out that if you let them live you get more dialogue choices. How gimped are the dialogue choices going into ME2 having killed the council? I do not care even a little bit about combat poo poo, I want every dialogue choice I can get. I don't want to end up in some horrible future where I can't keep my boy Wrex alive after doing so in the first one
